Rumor has it that Skonieczny is transferring to KSU from Iowa. Nate is a Walsh Jesuit grad that was ranked as the 15th best senior in the USA for the class of 2012. He is a stud. He was state champion in 2011 and 2012, he placed 3rd as a sophomore and 2nd as a freshman. He won a school record 181 matches, including 61 consecutive matches without surrendering an offensive point.

As was the case last year with Sam Wheeler, Coach A brings in another blue chip after a slight detour. In addition to Iowa, Nate was recruited by Ohio State and Michigan. He projects at 141/149. With Nate in the line-up, we have a fearsome threesome in Small, Skonieczny and Miller. Like Miller, he has a big motor and is serious AA stock.

This is from his junior year of high school:

That would be awesome.
Any reason as to why he is leaving Iowa. Is it just that he sees himself unable to break into the line up?

Homesick
Lambert58/Burden,

With classes starting this Monday, have you heard or seen any confirmation that Chase has officially transferred to KSU from Iowa and will enroll in classes on Monday?
I watched us wrestle (if that is what you call it) Va Tech. It looked like men against boys. No quickness, no technique. Do we have a coach? I am not very knowledgeable about college wrestling although I like it when I see two teams that are fairly even. I was embarrassed for our team. I had never heard of Va. Tech being a big time wrestling program. What am I missing?
GFlash68,

Yeah, Kent State has a really good coach, KSU Alum, and many good assistant coaches. This is a transition year for KSU, where 3 very good wrestlers are redshirting (Ian Miller @ 157lbs, Tyler Small @ 141lbs ((both are NCAA qualifiers and will be very good next yr)), Mimmo Lytle @ HWT is a top 10 HWT.... and will be in the lineup next yr and there isn't a true HWT in the starting lineup. If they get Skonieczny to transfer from Iowa like it is rumored, their lineup will be very good next yr.

And Virginia Tech is ranked #10 in D1 as of January 8th 2013 national/coaches polls.
GF68,

Va Tech has a very good wrestling program. We lost 2 matches by one point. If we win those the match goes down to the wire. After that match we beat Arizona st. And Old Dominion. That got us to the 5th place match against Boise. We lost due to having to forfeit at 125(I don't why. Mitcheff hurt?). As the previous post said we are red shirting 3 top wrestlers this year. I guess they should have red shirted last year but they thought they had a good chance to beat Cmu for the first time in 100 years. They didn't and are paying for it this year. CMU has 3 Dustin Kilgores this year. All back from Olympic red shirts. Our coach is fine and is recruiting very well. I'm impressed you watched. The basketball team must really be getting to you.
I have not heard if Nate is showing up. Lambert???
Thanks for the info. I do follow wrestling and really would like for us to excel in the sport. Wrestling has a certain purity and tradition associated with it. Watch Kilgore every chance I get as he is a beast.

If he was not coming on board, I think I would have heard about it. He was in the stands for the NIU dual and I will look for him at the OU dual on Friday. Speaking of OU, it will be a good scrap. For a number of years we have gotten the better of them and they are at their strongest in some time, while we are transitioning this year. It will be chippy and fun to watch.
