For the average NIU student, the opportunity to travel to Miami to watch their fellow Huskies make history might seem like a long shot, but alumni support is putting the odds in students’ favor.

In an effort to help all Orange Bowl goers see RED, the university is offering a $150 Huskie Students Go Bowling travel package that includes transportation, hotel accommodations, and a game ticket.

The NIU Alumni Association, Foundation, and Executive Leadership Forum have partnered to support this initiative, and students have gladly seized the opportunity. In fact, the initial 500 seats sold out in only nine minutes!

Your donation of $150 will help an NIU student take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

All donations tax-deductible.

Thank you for posting this!
I think it is a nice idea.. but i also think it supports that apathy of the student fan base..I am sure most could scrounge up $150(parents, jobs, platelets, etc)...

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I don't think it's saying your donation will make it free for students, your donation will help them offer more of the $150 trips.

So they're getting the trips for $300, asking alumni to pay for half of it and the student the other half.
Yes, I think you're reading it correctly 17Huskies, it's to help offer more student seats, which the students will purchase still for $150. It's a great idea and hopefully some alums will help out.

Boom!
Just paid for 3. $450
College is expensive for far too many Huskies, so maybe your Alumni donation secures a place for a kid without the means to go otherwise.

Won't you think of the children?

I can't imagine a school without athletics.
The alumni get so involved and especially when the team is winning.
HASF better break new records next year.
