And what is it ODU aspires to be? I know when I was considering the school it was a stated aspiration to be an academic peer of Virginia Tech in eastern VA. I know BW himself stated (as an FCS program) the goal was to be the number 3 team in state every year. And that was before we made the jump to FBS. If our goal isn't to win CUSA every year, and at least try to be the best program in the state (I know, hard to do with VT and now UVA) then we shouldn't be FBS. I'd love to hear from someone at ODU about what the school's aspirations truly are, both academically and athletically. Liberty wants to be Notre Dame for Evangelicals, VCU never wants to be called mid-major again, GMU wants to be a top tier business and law school, what does ODU want to be (other than cheap and diverse?)? Im sick of seeing school pass us from behind.

You forgot a leader in SOCIAL Mobility !!! 04-jawdrop You can't be a leader in social mobility be allowing students to take out large amounts of student debt and handing them degrees that are worthless. Many obtain degrees that have no chance in ever paying back their student loans.
I'm all for taking risks and going against the grain when it comes to scheduling. Taking a pay game from a fellow G5 will never feel quite right, but maybe the way forward lies outside our comfort zone.

Oh, and

OT- But, maybe Jerry should have spent that 800k to delete evidence.

Really happy to read that we're working on extending the series with ECU. Definitely would have preferred to see them in 2023 in place of the grifter's school.
Don't look now, but perennial ACC bottom dweller Wake Forest is ranked #19. Should be fun next year.

We are setting ourselves up for success. It’s smart scheduling. Once this “championship team” defeats three ACC teams and an FCS squad, we should be ranked in the top 25. We won’t be “young” next season, right? CUSA is probably shaking in their boots thinking of the 2020 Monarchs squad.

In case it wasn’t clear, that was sarcasm.

Dear Bobby: your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries.

We're playing Hampton next year to fill out the schedule.

The article also mentions to be announced "changes" to our upcoming schedules. I have to assume it would involve fewer ACC home games...

That wouldnt be a bad thing. In spite of BW saying this is a Championship Team next year, three ACC teams in one season is too much to ask of any G5 squad.

It might have something to do with UConn trying to wrap up its 2020 indy schedule. Maybe some sort of trade where UConn takes over an ODU date and then hosts ODU? I know they did some sort of deal like that recently.

It's not like the 3 P5 teams are alabama, LSU or Clemson. If we ever want to make it to the New Years day game over the AAC then that's the type of schedule we need. Too bad we don't have a championship quality team next year.

At this point I’d be happy with the Bahamas again. Baby steps. If we go to four bowls in a row, think about adding 3 P5s then. Not after a 1 win season.
