against Cincy was Ben Dillard. He did not miss a shot all night: 3 for 3 from the field and 2 for 2 from the line.
He's starting to emerge after a dismal start. Maybe the light went on. Glad to see him get it together.

Anyone think BD could be a backup point guard in a pinch? Not the quickest in the world, but smart, team-oriented, coachable, and eventually will be a good shooter again. Just talking about someone to spell Gillon if absolutely necessary. Leroy is tough, but I don't see him as a point guard type.
I would surely give him or someone a shot at it.

Ted?
The only bright side I can see is that everybody made it back to Little Rock alive, thank goodness.

Osse'?
You know I'm a big fan of Osse, and he might get a shot at it, but he's really a two guard, IMO. If he can handle the ball well enough under pressure though, he could be the answer.
Remind me how we got to having only freshman point guards. Was either Fondren or Lawton heir-apparent..?
Lawton.
Heir-apparent senior point guard leaves the team. That alone speaks volumes. Of what, I'm not sure.
I still can't believe Lawton was so ineffective for us. He was highly rated out of high school and part of the #1 recruiting class in the country at San Diego State if I recall. He should have at least been a good SBC player.
He always looked intimidated to me.

Lawton was a disappointment. Top 25 guard out of high school. Part of San Diego State's highly ranked recruiting class when he signed at the end of his high school career. I did wonder how we got such a highly regarded player. Apparently his stock dropped dramatically after coaches saw him play in Juco. And apparently there was a good reason it dropped.
Actually he had pretty good creds coming out of Juco. He played the two guard with Dre at the point his first year. He always looked like he could play if given more time, but obviously he didn't do things in practice that led to game minutes. Steve's players earn their playing time in practice. That much I know. He looked like he could have contributed, and certainly as a senior. Just another error in either evaluating or giving playing time.

This was from Midmajor Recruiting who listed San Diego State as having the #1 recruiting class-

Throw in the scoring machine that is Eric Lawton, who averaged 23 points per game at West Valley this past season, and you get a nice combination of scoring and rebounding. If Eric adds some mass to himself he could dominate the Mountain West.
I don't believe he scored 23 points in his entire UALR career.

Wow, really that kid looked like the second coming of jarryd knight, only he could not shoot like knight.

Everyone of you just went who? He was a pure shooter on the 1st team to call the jack home and played about 5 games and went home to work at freds. I don't know why, but seems like this kid died too. I know the transfer from purdue did too. Hell, they all start to blend together, if all they did was get a cup of coffee at ualr.
I think Jaryd Knight got married and had to support a family. He would have been a nice player for us. And how about Brian Crislip. I know MJS and PTJR remember him. That was one of the worse losses we suffered. He would have been a great point guard for us for four years.
Left for a girl friend who broke up with him two weeks later. Ended up on the first team that Florida Gulf Coast fielded. And Alex Finger, a starter at point guard his freshman year, who was the point guard on the Central High state championship team with Joe Johnson and Mark Green. He left to just become a student. He was a nice player. We've had some bad luck with losing some good players before their careers were finished. I guess every program has some of that, but we seem to lose some really good ones. Not to mention Zack Wright and Nick Zachary, the great shooter, who didn't play his senior season for some reason. And don't forget Kimmo Murinen. Quite a list, and I'm sure I've left off a lot of players.
