Tough to even call this a game. UC absolutely destroying ALR. Completely suffocating a D, offense seems all over the place but half court offense has rarely been necessary tonight.
Men vs boys. Defense is crazy.
UALR is favored to win the Sun Belt and UC is crushing them. Not letting up either.
Our defense this year is some of the nastiest defense I've seen in college hoops since Van Exel sr year....our defense is suffocating, oppressive, nasty. I love it. Hail Mick

what I like about this team is, like Van Exel's teams, they really WANT to be known for defense...they thrive on it. It's their trademark and they know it and are proud of it.
What's the deal with JDIII?
we had 20 steals last I checked....and force 30 turnovers....that is unreal, regardless of who we are playing. What a defense we have.
I was surprised that JDIII couldn't even get into the game, especially during garbage time. Overall, the Cats looked pretty good tonight defensively. They were aggressive in the passing lanes and really hounded the young backcourt of UA-LR. Offensively, when not in transition it is still a mess, SK was getting dominated early on but found his stride in the second half. He and Cashmere Wright need to be much more consistant offensively or this team is going to struggle to score in the half court. Again incredibly impressed with Rubles, he is the most talented player on the team.
I assume JDIII is in the dog house or injured in some way if he didn't get into this one....

Jeremiah Davis III only Bearcats player not to play. Mick said he has tendon issue in non-shooting hand. Considering surgery.
Was just about to post that cpaw, chance they may just medically redshirt him like they were going to with Octavious Ellis.
Great defense, seriously questionable offense, story of the season so far.

SK looked terrible handling the ball tonight.

The game was pretty ugly, it was a mad scramble for points by every Bearcat.
SK's ball handling continues to be a problem. If that is not fixed, there is no way he gets to the NBA.

NBA? Hell I'm worried about come Big East time. Hopefully he is more careful against the better competition. Tonight it looked like he was going up with the ball like he thought he was paying 3rd graders.

PS. I think the Bearcats need to stop charting deflections and start counting the number of times guys grab a ball and hold onto it.

the muthafunkin' octagon. man, woulda like to see what he coulda done. where him at these days?
I have been on vacations and this is the first time I have seen the Bearcats play. I was greatly impressed with their effort. They must have had north of 50 touches on defense. Probably closer to 70. The 2 big men run the floor like gazelles, not elephants. They may not win everything they are going after this year but I, for one, am very proud of the Hugginesque effort I saw tonight. Continue to march!!

The coach at Trinity is a friend of Mick's there have been some rumblings that if Ellis stays out of trouble that Mick may be willing to take him back after his stay at the JUCO.

After the game Cronin said they had 70 deflections. Their goal in any game is 40. Hell of a defensive effort. I think they try to move to quickly on offense sometimes and turnovers result. When the break is not their they need be smoother.

Why? Deflections are a very good thing. It is tough to just steal passes and grab them (Or leading to fouls), but more often than not a deflection will result in a good thing. A steal, a ball knocked out of bounds, interrupting the offensive flow or making it tough to get a clean catch by the receiver slowing down a potential shot. Coaches preach active hands and if you can't get the ball, at least you can impact the offense or help create a turnover with a deflection.

I was joking a little. Obviously deflections are a good thing. I'm talking about around the basket. Our guys just can't seem to grab the ball on a rebound.
