Our Broncos play in the worst division in the worst league in the country. It is not even close. There are many D II schools that would give us a good game and even beat us.

People here go on about these freshman and except for Paul, I don't see anything. Klein, Perry and Tava look like they have some promise but they are two years away. None of these players compare to our team 10 years ago that McCullum recruited. Back then we used to go after JC players. Remember Levi Rost? We had better players on the bench then than start on this team now. You have to figure if Brandon Pokley is your #2 scorer, your team is not very good.

But perhaps late in the season, we will be vying for that coveted West Divison title with an under .500 record and the Hawk will be making a big deal about it. We will then lose our second game in the tournament. Nothing changes with the current leadership. We need a change.
You are right. We suck. 6-2 is unacceptable for this young team! Time to scrap the program!

Fine!! They are young but are they or will they ever be good enough so we can compete with the better teams in the MAC East? I've been hearing the same crap for 10 years and we have recruited exactly two good players, Joe Reitz and David Kool. The young players of Whitfield, Ward and Douglas were going to lead us there. We will be having this same conversation 4 years from now.

Trust me, there is nothing that I would like more than for this group to make us competitive with the better teams in our league. Especially on the road. I just don't think this group is going to get it done. I want more players that look like Darius Paul. You can have your Danny Ferry's. I will take an athlete.

Prime example of how we praise these players is Hoerdeman. Last year, he had a few good games and folks were wowing over him. Now he is forgotten. He might as well not even be on the team.

I hope that I am proved wrong.
Ok, so you say what I have been trying to say so much better.

What do you think we as a program should be doing different?
The team was 6-1... got pasted by the NUMBER THREE TEAM IN THE NATION and now they are the worst most under achieving team ever built? Wow... I think someone needs to temper their expectations a little. Or at the very least check with their cardiologist before watching these games...

I have only had issue with pretty much one thing with the team over the past couple fo years... they just cant shoot the damn ball. As a team they have just been awful... They couldnt even make touch shots under the hoop... I think I saw at one point three offensive rebounds under the net go back up and roll out eventually ending up in UM's hands. However, they moved the ball well, they seemed to get the ball inside pretty effectively and they pushed the game up court pretty well.

Oh, and most of the mistakes I was watching couldnt be attributed to Hawk... I've whined on here before about Hawk, but last night was execution by the players. Missed shots, TURNOVERS, bad shot selection. The system was moving the ball around pretty well, and the defense was setting up pretty well... UM is just deeper, quicker, and more athletic at most positions than WMU... They got beat by a much better team. Period.

So the only two good players Hawk has ever recruited were dinosaurs? Hayden Hoerdeman, to whom you were just singing praises, is a dinosaur? He was recruited to play some at point, part way through his freshman year he went to Hawk and asked to concentrate on the off guard spot because he didn't know the plays. Now starting his sophmore year the second hand info I have heard says he still doesn't. Simple fact: if you don't know the plays you won't play.

Is this another insult defected at our "podding" white guys? Just because they cant jump and dont run fast? Thats not fair, even if it may be accurate. As a slow white guy who cant jump high, i am personally offended.
Wow.

Wasn't. Just shocked that rocket stated that we are "recruiting players of the wrong race".
In the last 4 years, we have played Ohio, Kent St, and Akron 16 times in the regular season and MAC tournament. WMU has been victorious in 2 of those games. Something has got to change.

If you optimists who are looking for the next Danny Ferry think that will change our luck, you are way wrong.

However, the President sits intently across from the bench and he will make a decision if things do not improve SOON. At the banquet last year, he said "We must make the tournament". To me, that is an ultimatum for This Year.
So we need to recruit more black kids is what you are saying?

Hope he's willing to pony up some serious cash then.

We've gone over this before on this board. Hawk has 3 years left AFTER this season on his contract. After this year, his buyout is 660k. After next year, it's 440k. The year after, right before his final year, 220k.

You can talk about ultimatums, or pep talks all you want. It doesn't friggin' matter unless a booster is willing to write a check.

You think Dunn is gonna pull the plug and write a 660k check after this season if "things don't improve soon"?

It's not worth stating the obvious in regards to the matter. I'm not lobbying for either....just rooting for a non-ignorant POV.

How did McCullum get Rost? His sister played here.
