He's making 1.8 million, coaching in the ACC where he could pretty easily go to a BCS game often after winning us two MAC Championships. His actions were nothing like PJ Fleck's.

Don't blame him for accepting a better salary, but you have to admit there is some irony. He went to NC State in the ACC whose champion qualifies for ... drum roll .... The Orange Bowl.
In other words, it's possible he and the Wolfpack will never get to where he could have already been.

NIU coaches should coach the Orange Bowl!
Compher did not give Doeren the option to coach the Orange Bowl. From the NIU announcement about Doeren leaving: Doeren's departure is effective immediately and he will not coach NIU in its bowl game, Compher said.
