Fingers crossed until the official announcement.
Time to represent, NIU!

This does not please the cartel members. Time to do a "screw the BCS" happy dance.

Suck it Hazell (voted us #17) and Suck it even longer Lembo (voted us #21).
Awesome news...NIU just raised the bar for the rest of us. Well done!!

Lembo and to a lesser extent Hazell voting NIU out of the BCS ranks right up there with Michigan State casting the deciding vote to send Ohio State to the Rose Bowl instead of Michigan in 1973...
The MAC took a huge leap forward today....

04-cheers

The talking points that the MAC can't place a participant in a BCS bowl or an Access bowl are officially over. They were able to do it with a 1 loss team too.

Yep. A BIG thanks to the :badger:

Quote:Northern Illinois will play Florida State in the Orange Bowl, according to a source with direct knowledge of the selection.
On a day featuring relatively little drama regarding which teams will head to which BCS bowls, the Huskies' selection provided the biggest intrigue. They needed to finish No. 16 in the final BCS standings; they finished No. 15.
From there, the only real question was which at-large team the Fiesta Bowl would select. The bowl picked Oregon to face Kansas State.
The BCS title game, as expected, will be Notre Dame vs. Alabama.
Florida will play Louisville in the Sugar Bowl and Wisconsin will play Stanford in the Rose Bowl.
Northern Illinois, from tiny DeKalb, will be the darling of this bowl season. The Huskies will enter the game 12-1 after beating Kent State last Friday night for the MAC championship. The Huskies have a star in quarterback Jordan Lynch, who has accounted for 19 rushing and 24 throwing touchdowns this season. Lynch is receiving some buzz as a fringe Heisman Trophy candidate.
The Huskies will be heavy underdogs against Florida State, which won the ACC by edging Georgia Tech in the ACC title game Saturday.

Interesting that NIU finished #15. Sweet.

Still want to see the final BCS standings.

Congratulations to Northern Illinois! I love it when my home-state schools do well.
This is a great day for the MAC. A step forward for everyone. Well unless NIU gets blown out, and I don't see that happening.

Mushroom mushroom?

Congrats niu and I just wanted you all to know I'll be watching every bowl with a Mac team in it.....

Hazell probably figured that for as horrible of a game KSU played Friday they were one dumbassed botched 3rd & 1 reverse in OT from booking a trip to Miami. 03-wink
Lembo should be "tarred and feathered" for that! I sure hope he received a call from his AD and the MAC commissioner. What a load of crap. My lil' bro is a BSU alum and big-time supporter..I already sent him and another BSU booster a note asking them to give Lembo some grief when they see him next. Anyone have an email address for Ball State athletics..I'd like to sent their AD or Lembo an email expressing outrage from a MAC alum.
Seriously? As a MAC coach, that doesn't make any sense. WTH
Congrats to NIU and the MAC

Well Deserved
