I want someone like Doeren.. up and coming coordinator from a BCS conference..that will stay for 2-4 years..And that is fine because the MAC conference coaching job will never be more than a stepping stone or a retirement job(solich, who lost at the top level)...

I like

Dream Candidates
Kingsbury(A&M offensive coord)
Philip Montgomery (Baylor offensive coord)
Phil Fulmer
Mark Hudspeth
Todd Monken

More Likely...
Lance Guidry (Western Kentucky Def Coord)
McCall(Northwestern Offensive Coord)
Luck Fickell(Ohio St)

Would Be happy with
Thomas Hammock
Rod Carey

Will have to look for more realistic candidates tonight
We wont take a Sun Belt Coordinator for our HC....

Have to agree here on going for younger, up and coming coordinator as opposed to going the "old geezer" route like Ohio and Akron
Is Hammock still at Minn? what's his resume? is he ready for a HC gig?

He was also the interim head coach for Miami(ohio) when they won the go daddy bowl after Haywood left..
Who is Oregon's offensive coordinator? Get him!

I like Baylor's offense as well.
I've spent the last hour looking for guys who would fit the profile of a young exciting coach we'd prefer, and Dave Yost from Mizzou seems like a great candidate. Early 40's, innovative OC, recruiting coordinator with Midwestern ties, and likely feeling pressure after Missouri's move to the SEC.

That being said, I have a hard time backing a guy that most resembles Jeff Daniels from Dumb and Dumber on a good day, and Spicoli all the other times.

If we can get him to a Supercuts, I think this guy would do well.
I am hearing rumors that Rod Carey will be the next coach..
If he can keep our recruits, keep a similar game plan to this season, keep the respect of the players, and be a good game manager. I am all for it.

Carey's the only real name. FootballScoop says he's the guy, I've seen stuff on twitter about recruits' parents being told today to "expect" him to be hired.

This thread is pretty much crazy spitballing with no relationship to reality.
I would be fine with Carey... I hope Compher doesn't try to make a splashy choice... I wonder if Compher has job offers...

Since we went big ten last time with DD at Wisconsin,
might be a bit early to look at Tom Herman Ohio State,
bet this guy gets a gig sooner than later though....

but for comic relief, hey, lets get the guy from the "show me" state....
I'm pretty sure Compher's MO is a BCS coordinator.
I've said it before, Ill say it again, Brock Spack.

Rockford native. Played at Purdue. Coached at EIU, Purdue, Wyoming and now Illinois State. Record is 19-14. Midwest guy who is moving ISU football in the right direction. Get em Compher.

So, what did Wisconsin's defense look like this year? Is their latest version of DC any good?

I believe the DC was the linebacker coach under DD.
I like Carey, not only because I feel he was the finest OC we've ever seen, but I think the program needs to maintain some semblance of continuity. If you are going to look for a new HC every year you are eventually going to hire a lemon. We all know with what NIU has coming back next year this team will be very very good and will be an attractive gig. The question is do you leverage NIU's returning talent to lure another top BCS OC or DC, or do you keep the flow going with an internal hire? I'm leaning towards Carey as I think in addition to his ability to maintain the continuity of the program he is also an "up and comer" (Easy Dog Fan)
we need to avoid another DD who accomplished nothing other than using Kills recruits to to advance his salary.
Sorry, two years is BULLS#IT.
