I fell asleep right before the end of regulation. Did not see Kent tie it up after the go-ahead by NIU. Woke up and saw the last 2 plays of the game in OT. Didn't even know it went to 2 OT's.

The KSU O-line and QB made the NIU defense look like world beaters.

BTW - isn't Roosevelt Nix from Toledo Scott HS? How did he get away? Wasn't there another Roosevelt Nix that played at Scott and was also a pretty fair BB player back in the heyday of Toledo Scott hoops?
Just did a search and it shows a Roosevelt Nix from Scott HS who was 6'6 and 292#'s who also made it to the NFL with the Bengals. I think I met him at a wedding of a friend of mine. If it is who I think it is, he died of cancer about 8 years ago.

The Nix that plays for KSU shows that he was from Reynoldsburg HS. Haven't seen anything that links the two as father-son.
Yes - the Roosevelt Nix at Kent State is the son of the Nix from Scott HS - but that is not the same guy I met at the wedding. Not sure how I was connecting the two other than by the size of the guy I met and that he was from Scott. Dude was huge and his suitcoat looked to be a well tailored size 64(?) - and he was not overweight.

At least I have this sorted out for my own peace of mind.
Great national coverage for MACtion on ESPN Sportscenter.

Not NIU's best game given their offensive start but they picked it up as the game went along. Stupid/forced throw by Lynch into at least double coverage resulted in an INT at the KSU three yard line or so ending a scoring drive; a fumble on a option read handoff was picked up by KSU and returned for six making it a seven point game. Factor in two pass interference call against NIU and the Huskies kept letting ways for Kent to get back in the game. KSU had two good offensive drives in the second half both resulting in TDs. NIU defense could have been somewhat spent by that point. Give KSU credit for limiting QB sacks in the second half.

IMO, the better team won. While Kent has a good team, the drop off between their QB talent and the majority of the MAC is night and day. It would be great ($$$$$$) for the MAC for NIU to jump to #16 but I don't see that happening.

There was a conversation on espn this morning between Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit. They complimented the MAC on a great season. However, they felt as if a MAC team should go undefeated before even being considered for a BCS bowl bid.
It's so typical. They design these supposedly full-proof systems for sorting out who should be in these games since they can't rely on one or more humans to objectively sort it out and then they have to analyze whether or not a team is "BCS worthy" just because they don't like the result the system spits out that they put in place to begin with!

It's all quite maddening.
Welcome to Boise State's world for many seasons

If a MAC team went undefeated then they would say they still don't deserve a chance.

They will make any excuse to keep mid-majors out of BCS games yet somehow teams like GT (this year if they win), Louisville (this year), UConn, etc. all deserve to be in? Get real...
