This will be a challenge. Lets hope the ladies make a good game out and this and possibly go 6-0.

I'll be there! I'm glad the ladies are undefeated right now, but lets be honest, it wasn't against toughest competition in the world. this is definitely our first legitimate challenge i think. Hope they do well.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the Lady Monarchs fare against their first nationally-ranked opponent of the season. Win or lose, we will see how far along the road back to relevancy this team has truly come.
I did not see an article in the sports section of this mornings VP paper? How are you supposed to rebuild a program if you can't rely on the hometown newspaper?

It's amazing how quickly the media can turn on a program once you have some downtime. I really hope the ladies can pull this one off. I saw on Facebook that the game will be broadcast via tape delay? Ugh why? When I record a game to watch, I can't sit and watch because I already know the results.

The grassroots campaigning is definitely one thing that I wish more coaches would do (I think Wilder is the only other I've seen but not as much). Barefoot is all over the place trying to rebuild the program and you can definitely tell she's pouring her heart into the job. I really hope it pays off for her and the Lady Monarchs, but basketball is about parity in the women's game and hard work or even good coaching doesn't necessarily guarantee success at the national level. Beating Cal would be a great start though.

Playing California tight would be a great start. Looking at last season the ladies lost by an average of 33 points to top 10 teams. That number is slightly skewed by a close lose to Delaware who I think was not worthy of its top 10 ranking (which was verified by losing in the second round of the NCAA tournament).

I think we would have taken a second round loss in a heartbeat
There's a big delta between a Top-10 team and even Top-25 teams. I was surprised to see that Cal has 5 players averaging double digits in scoring, that's unheard of in women's basketball. Most teams rely on a star player. I'll be there.
Lady Monarch's defense if #3 in the country.
Cal's offense is #7 in the country.

Should be quite the game.
7-4, Cal, a few minutes in.
