We can hope that "We're committed to Conference USA" means the same thing as it does when a coach denies he's been contacted by another school with an opening.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that it translates more accurately as "I really don't expect a Big East invitation."

Regardless of how bad our argument is, we should still be reaching out.
"we are committed to Conference USA."

Trans: "We are stuck in Conference USA." Everyone else can move upward and/or onward. Not UAB (see crimson ball & chain secured to Dragon's ankle)...pls. shorten thread title, mod gods be on the case. ;-)

Our argument is as good as Tulane's.

Tulane has $$$$...Tulane has a supportive board of trustees. UAB is stuck under a dictatorship's rule. Anyone here still think this is just paranoia-borne conspiracy nonsense? We're gettin' left in the dust here and can't do a (bleeping) thing about it.

One would have to assume had Alabama beaten LSU last year, a few weeks before we planned to give the stadium proposal. The BOT's may have listened to the proposal if they werent so butt hurt over the loss to LSU. Hey, its just a thought. If bama loses to Georgia, they are liable to kill our football program out of anger. LOL
Jon Soloman's head will explode when he reads this.
I'm fully committed to my current job... until I can get a better one.
Beat me to it. I was going to say, another way to look at this is Mackin saying, "Dammit, Solomon. For the last time, STOP pimping the Belt to me!"
Can we please stop blaming everything on the BOT. It's an easy excuse, one in which everyone at UAB can dodge accountability. The fact is, we don't have support and nothing seems to being done about it.

+1 I was just trying to make a joke. I wish someone in the athletic department would grow a pair. We dont want to be stuck in sunbelt 2.0.
Even with coach mcgee as coach and hope for eventual success, uab football is at its lowest point. I dont kno how much power the BOT's holds over Mackin's job security, but he needs to show a little bit of aggression towards helping our program to become successful as well as putting us in position to do so. The record will take care of itself if mcgee remains focused on UAB, but we havent seen Mackin show the slightest effort towards a better practice facility etc, etc, etc for the football program since the proposal was denied to be listened to.
This how Arkansas State answered these questions regarding the Sun Belt.

Dr. Tim Hudson, chancellor of Arkansas State University, and Terry Mohajir, director of athletics, issued the following statement today regarding changes in the Sun Belt Conference:

“Our Intercollegiate Athletics Department is always pursuing more revenue, more television exposure and more resources to field nationally recognized programs. We will consider any opportunities that could help us achieve our goals. Arkansas State is committed to the best interests of our student-athletes.”
We need to add WKU.
We would have to lose another member first.
