Sorry if this has been clarified yesterday - I was not around the board much.

If ECU does not get an all-sports invitation out of this, where are you guys parking your basketball and other sports?
Most likely CAA although that has not been announced yet.

Thanks. How about A-10?
Word out of Richmond yesterday was basically the CAA invited us yesterday before we could even ask.

"CBS 6 Sports has learned that the CAA will invite all non-football ECU sports to re-join the league"

Will we take it? Who knows? I guess it depends on what other conferences want our olympic sports and what works best. Hopefully we get an all-sports invite and won't have to worry about playing our sports in different conference.
CAA or A10 untill we get the All Sports to BE invite. That said, at the rate of BE attrition we might get a All Sport to BE before either of the aforementioned options happens.

We need to exhaust every avenue with the A10 and BE before going back to the CAA. There is nothing that would indicate our success in recruiting higher caliber athletes would be better this time around. Please...for the love of God...No More UNCW in Trask.03-banghead

As a UNCW grad.... I take zero offense to insulting UNCW athletics, but there is no reason if we are playing Campbell home and home and 4 non-D1 games that we shouldn't be playing UNCW every year.
We have plenty of time...I suspect nothing will be announced soon. Give it some time and see what happens with the Big East. I doubt the A 10 will be an option, they seem pretty full right now.

Not real jazzed about the CAA with its current membership....If you could go back to the mid-90s CAA than that would be a pretty darn good little basketball league.

If they had to go somewhere, I believe it is a close consensus that is the conference we would want. But they are probably one of the best non-football conferences, and the best on the east coast. So they have a little bit of power there.

Plus adding in it will only be a temporary thing (assuming). So would it be worth to the A10 to add us for short term.

Also, they will have 14 members. Is an odd number worth it? It is that big of a deal?

Who knows.

EDIT: I think this is my first post here, post-previous coach exodus. I've only lurked on here again since yesterday. Weeeird.

Not meant as an insult to UNCW athletics...It was a compliment. 03-idea

Checking out the CAA board; it looks like they really want ECU to come back so that some of their target schools (Appy State, College of Charleston and Davidson) in the SoCon will join the CAA. UNC-W fans especially seem to be looking forward to restarting the rivalry.
I remember when we left the CAA it was on bad terms. The CAA members voted to revoke our eligibility to play in the conference basketball tournament for the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament our last year. It is hard for me to believe that they really want us back so badly, especially since we helped pull ODU to CUSA. They treated us like crap and told us not to let the door hit us in the butt on the way out. The CAA commissioner didn't like us for that.

If we don't get into the A-10, then it is a step down for all sports whether it is the CAA, A-SUN or Southern Conference.

I'll only take it if the A-10 doesn't want us first. They treated us pretty crappy when we left.

I actually believe now that UofL is gone..the the A10 is as good of a BB conference top to bottom as the BE. It could actually be better. The A10 in Olympic sports and the BE in FB could end up being as good as we could get now. Terry Holland is a BB man. You can damn well believe that the A10 is his primary target today...not the CAA. We may end up there..but..it should be as a last resort.

I am with you...I was shocked that the CAA jumped all over this. Are we THAT valuable? Damn...who would have guessed it. 03-lmfao
