Looks like Louisville or nothing.....
i was getting ready to post this, so yeah it's louisville or no expansion at all, i'm thinking we hear louisville to the acc by tomorrow afternoon. 14 seems to be the only consensus at this point
Is nothing even feasible? If you can't have 13 teams and play a championship game, then it has to Louisville or postpone until a later decision can be made.
I would think(you guys would hope)- that the ACC doesn't let this news get out about a 7am meeting unless they know the answer of the meeting..... It'd be a lot of egg on the face if they had the meeting and rejected everyone.....

Do you remember the 2003 expansion? It was an egg on face disaster for months. So, the precident it there. Hopefully Louisville gets the votes and we can move onto other things like realigning the division, raising the exit fee or getting a grant of rights.

The thing is, I don't think you guys can afford that type of I'd call it catastrophic pr disaster right now. i'd venture a guess if that happened, you'd find a lot of schools looking.....
Uconn looks to be last on the list of desirables. they didn't have enough votes last year & i doubt they have enough going forward once Pitt & Syracuse are on board. the only wildcard to me is if they settle on Cincinnati

i agree, looks like one or all of the" academics first" is taking one for the home team
I have to figure Louisville is it. They definitely deserve the step up and I think their addition will stabilize the ACC for the foreseeable future.
Sorry, but what happened back in 2003?

The ACC was all set to vote on Miami, BC, and Syracuse in a public manner then UVA got blackmailed by the State of Virginia and swapped their vote from yes to no at the last minute.

The Mac does now. Hopefully no need to find out 03-shhhh
More like UVA wanted VT and there weren't enough votes to expand without UVA voting for it so UVA got VT in on the first vote. Miami was the prize everyone wanted. Then they wanted to wait to see if ND was interested so BC had to wait.

The ACC wanted to conduct an expansion in secret like the failed 2001 attempt to get Miami but Mike Tranghese went public saying that the ACC had been in contact with several of the BE schools and caused the ACC expansion to be played out in public. So every day for 3-4 months there was news about the ACC trying to expand. Well, they tried to expand with Miami, Cuse and Pitt because Donna Shallala (Miami President) wanted those schools. The votes alway came up 1 short because Duke and UNC voted no to any expansion and UVA voted no to any expansion that didn't include VT. It was a complete clusterf*ck because the ACC held 6-12 meetings and conference calls on the issue and never could get any thing resolved. All these meetings and conference calls were publicized in the national press and it seemed as though the ACC couldn't get anything done. Then about a week before the July 1st deadline was reached, VT and Miami were admitted as a compromise. Also, NCState's president? thought he could convince ND as the 12 member and BC was not let in until the following year. It was a living hell to go through for the fans of VT and probably other schools.

No, UVA was pro expansion with UM, BC, and Cuse until your governor and legislature started squawking about withholding funding if they didn't support VT.

Understand that Clemson was pro-VT and pushed for you over one of BC/Syracuse long in the process but was beat down by Tabakky Rd and UVA. From my sources when the ACC first started talking expansion Clemson, Maryland, and FSU lobbied hard for the Hokies because of your fanbase and football success. UVA wanted nothing to do with putting y'all on an even footing because they rightfully knew that doing so would relegate them to an afterthought.

was wvu lobbied for back then too? I always thought the original expansion should have been miami, va tech, and wvu. made too much sense too happen

That isn't what really happened but I guess it makes a good story in SC.

WVU was not an option then, in 2011, or now.

I'll take the word of my sources since they were parties to the discussion back then over this board's biggest crybaby any day.
