Big East for football, need new home for remaining sports.

They'll probably take CofC's spot in the SoCon and leave us screwed.
I'm sure the A-SUN is not even on their radar. Why would it be? C-USA to A-Sun would be the biggest downgrade in history

Perhaps App State and Ga Southern could sponsor ECU if they could then copy this arrangement themselves in order to play FBS football in a second conference. Of course getting the other conference members on board would be a rather steep challenge.

What about C-USA to SoCon or Big South?
What was I thinking? ECU will return to the CAA. With them and C of C, they would have eleven basketball schools. Who would be their twelfth basketball school -- ETSU?

This is just nuts.

This is what I saw earlier today. ECU to the CAA possibly.
They'll end up either in the CAA or A-10, but if the nBe, or Conference USA as it used to be known goes ahead and loses UConn/Cincinatti in the next month (and they will, probably to the ACC) then they'll end up as full members.

ECU basketball would struggle to win two games in the Basketball Big East annually. And, I'll bet the basketball schools don't want them.
Back to square one. What about East Tennessee State? Interesting to see what these other schools who have gone on and left ETSU in their dust are doing. But what is ETSU doing during this massive conference realignment and restructuring period? Are we honestly and realistically in a position to do anything proactive during this crucial period in college athletics? Or, has Dave Mullins and gang taken us to the brink or to a point of no return? What exactly do we have to offer another conference other than, say, the Big South or a DIi league? Is the Committed for 125 on this? Is Dr Noland out front on this? After all the dust settles from all these changes, there will be few opportunities going forward for ETSU. If the school does not get in on the action NOW, I'm afraid we'll be stuck forever in this thing called the A-Sun (someone else has already pointed out this ugly reality on here earlier). If that is the case, then just move athletics to DIII or cancel it.

Most of the Big East basketball powers are/will be gone. Louisville is all but a done deal to go to the ACC. UConn and Cincy are likely to follow. As far as prominent bball programs, that leaves Marquette, Gtown, and Nova. The only new additions with decent bball programs are Memphis and SDSU. (why in God's name San Diego State would join the big EAST is beyond me) but anyways, yes ECU would probably still struggle, but the Big East is no longer a bball powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination, and I imagine Marquette, Gtown etc are looking for a way out as well.

There has been talk of the basketball schools breaking away.

ECU would struggle in what used to be the Big East, what the Big East is turning into, who knows? Tulane just just joined the Big East.
Has anyone heard any direct answer from Noland about future conference affiliation? As involved as he is, I would be surprised if this is not on his radar. Especially with everyone complaining about the lowly A-Sun. I think he'll do everything he can to advance our conference affiliation.
There are some open spots in C-USA. Alot of quality programs have left, but MTSU just joined up today, and they are surely looking to add more. It would still be a step up for bball, and an opportunity to add FBS football. Just "dreaming big" as Noland suggested.

If the focus is going to be on basketball, the A-10 should be the ultimate goal. Butler, VCU, Dayton, Charlotte, Xavier, Richmond, Temple... Now thats a top notch mid-major basketball conference. (not that they would be interested in a school that can hardly compete in the A-SUN.........)
ETSU doesn't have anything to offer these conferences at this moment. Had football not been dropped and the administration invested in the university and worked to improve it like East Carolina, Marshall, Western Kentucky, UNC Charlotte, etc... I have no doubt ETSU would've been in the mix.
But hey, volleyball was pretty good this year. Put that in ya pipe and smoke it, if it wasn't confiscated at BucRidge...

And tennis was pretty good last year....To Mullins that leaves us in good standing in the A-Sun. I still cannot believe we have not yet heard rumors of his retirement.

Don't forget winning the church league all sports trophy!

Rumors? Hell I don't want rumors, I want to see the press conference.
Give him a gold plated tennis racket and send him on his way.
