ACC will act swiftly once consensus is reached. But when will that be?
I'm not in favor of UConn. I can tolerate Louisville and/Cincinnati so long as FSU and Clemson are content. If not, need to find teams that will make them happy.
this is not a surprise uconn has academics while louisville has the football.ID guess sometime within 2 weeks after some backroom deals.i kinda like adding all 3 as a compromise as long as espn will up the deal

Speculation:

Schools blocking UConn: BC, FSU, CU
Schools blocking UL: UNC, UVA, Dook

and the rest of the teams can go either way
Miami is absolutely blocking UConn. BC, I am less certain about. Their new AD is friends with ours and Gene DeFilippo was on the ACC expansion committee last time y'all expanded.

Virginia Tech may be blocking UL. I know that they didn't get along very well in the Metro Athletic Conference.

I cannot possibly see Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech not being on the top list there.

And regarding UNC, UVA, and Dook ... they can take UofL now or get it jammed down their throat when Cuse and Pitt can vote.

What I want to know is who are Clemson and FSU backing? We asume it's Louisville. If that's the case, we really need to get in Louisville. UNC and Duke haven't budged since the 2003 expansion (else VT would never have gotten in). It's time for UNC and Duke to give for the greater good of the conference. 1 team in the 140's of USNWR rankings isn't going to nosedive the academic perception of the league. Especially considering they've been consistantly improving on their rankings, desire to be a better school and are doing the things necessary to improve.

I doubt VT is blocking Louisville. Yes the fans have a hatred for Louisville because they were the big dog of that league to the detriment of the rest of the schools but I doubt that runs all the way up to the administration.

exactly is about becoming a better stable conference

They held a secret vote to kick us out and we sued them. I am thinking that would rub the admin the wrong way.

Also in that article is that BC might make a run at Miami coach Al Golden for their vacancy. I thought there was an ACC rule against taking another conference teams football coach unless it was ok'd by the team losing their coach.

I dont believe that is correct. Remember when NC State took Obrien from BC?

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Maybe VT is a no vote.
I can't say I am surprised at this report. I saw this happening last week when I leared that 75% (9 of 11 votes here) were needed to add a school. It does seem like we have at least three schools blocking UConn and UofL. I won't speak to the relative pros/cons of the respective candidates. However, if the NC schools truly want long term stability for the conference and the southern schools are really that adamant regarding UofL, they may end up spiting themselves if they block the wishes of the football powers. I love college basketball and understand academics matter, but only the blind would think you can ignore the wishes of those that matter in football at this point in college athletics.

The problem with the last statement is that it wouldn't be until July when that happens. Don't think the ACC would want to wait until then to expand quite frankly.... Also, if UNC,UVA, and Duke added 1 more school, they could block Louisville even when Cuse and Pitt can vote.....
Louisville and Memphis would be a very smart move.

If your goal was to see the ACC lose their spot in the Orange bowl that may be.

Yes, that is absolutely true. Although the point should be made that it was done because the presumption was VT was never going to play football in the conference as long as they could play in the BE, and would leave as soon as the BE allowed them in as full members. Both were pretty much true. So instead some teams wanted to add Houston instead.

The way it was done though.. cruddy. The team that was really scrwed in that was Virginia Commonwealth.

Be happy you got invited to the BE.....
