Ignoring the smack, is this true?
They are REPORTING similar (but not nearly as bad) things from the Louisville ticket department, but that is more a reflection of UofL's POOOR ticket assignment process than how many fans will actually be there.
The Louisville ticket office, for some reason, has a BAD habit of dragging their feet with things like this and screwing over the Average Joe who hasn't accumulated hundreds of Priority Points (See: mega donations) with them.
For a lot of Louisville folks, TicketMaster is the means to get to the Gator Bowl. Our in-house sales may not end up doing spectacularly, but we will be in force in Jacksonville.
Bulls fans, is something like this happening in Tampa (bad ticket allotment by dept)?
I hope it's not true.
I'm hoping for a nice contingent of USF fans in Orlando next year.
I'm driving to Charlotte in January for a conference. I hear it's nice.

Ticket sales are not going well as expected, I think we will have somewhere of about 3,500 or so if not more by game day.

Wow! That's pretty pitiful USF? Why is this so? It's your first bowl. It's close to home. I thought you were having pretty good attendance? What is the reason behind such poor tickets sales?
If this true, thats pretty sad for USF because the bowl is within its driving distance. I cant believe Bull fans dont show up for its first bowl. This will not be good for the Bulls or the BE. Now I understand why Tire bowl people at UCONN vs. UL game were openly cheering for UCONN to win to be eligible for the bid.
I think this will affect USF's bowl bid in the future also. I hope more fans show up than 3500 at the Tire. Even BCU brought like 3000 to the game last year.
According to USF associate athletic director Tom Veit as quoted in the News and Observer, USF has sold "about 5,000 tickets so far." There are still more than 2 weeks to go before the game.

Obviously we would love to sell our entire 12,500 ticket allotment, and there are still several pushes to be made before the bowl game.

This is why Charlotte did not want USF or Rutgers in the bowl. It is also why they needed to take NC State to fill up the place.
I guess you missed the other thread on Rutgers sending 6,000+ to PHOENIX.
Here is another fact Boston Colege sent 5,000 to the Charlotte Bowl last year. So if USF has 5,000 already with 3 weeks to go then its not as bad as some of you want to malke it out to be.
We will see what the numbers are at the end but ill guess USF will send 8-10,000 not great but not bad for a "commuter" school. we will get better with time. Remember we havent had 50-80 years to create a fan base.

USF is on the hook for 12,500 tickets, so lets hope your fans purchase most of them, otherwise they get expensive for the school.

You have to remember that this is USF, which means what they report is far from what will actually happen. USF does a decent job of pulling the average fan to Raymond James, but youhave to remember that the Buc's have sold out and there is a 60,000+ waiting list for their games. So the only way to see a game at Raymond James is through the Bulls. These fans, which make up at least half of their game day and those fans will not travel to a bowl game. Also, they have decent student support, and again, many of those kids will not travel.
If USF sends 5,000 fans, I would be extremely shocked. They will say they sent 10,000, but its best to use your own judgement.

As much as you like to rip USF (and, by the way, they're STILL waiting for you to come and eat some crow after all the crap you talked on the BullsPen), this will be up to the bowl to report. If USF sells their allotment of 12,500 tickets and doesn't return any, there won't be any bitching by any of the bowl folks.
It might behoove you more to worry about how many fans UCF is going to bring to YOUR first bowl game...
