Here we go...o'brien out at ncst (shocking) and Chizik out at auburn (not so shocking). Either one a Doeren destination? I still think Arkansas is the one that concerns me most.
Danny Hope has been fired by Purdue.
Two other SEC openings in Kentucky and Tennessee. Bye, bye Doeren. It's been a good run.

No doubt about it, we were so lucky to have him though, I just hope he doesnt announce it before MACC
North Carolina State in talks with Mike Leach (just finished first season at Wash St.)
Purdue finished 6-6 so probably no change there

Wow. Danny Hope basically got fired a month ago. I thought that was common knowledge.
If Auburn called, Doeren would be out of his mind not to go. Not sure they would call him, however.
SEC teams tend to want bigger name coaches or someone with SEC experience. The only SEC job that would probably fit Doeren is Kentucky.
From GoldandBlack.com (Purdue football message board):

"Among the coaches Purdue is interested in, according to sources, are Cincinnati head coach Butch Jones, Louisiana Tech coach Sonny Dykes, Northern Illinois coach Dave Doeren, Oregon offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich and others."
Butch Jones I bet gets the job.
No offense to these other teams looking for coaches, but I think Doeren would be more focused on sending this team to a BCS bowl and upping his stock even more before pissing in the wind with offers available garbage dime a dozen teams. We're not talking about the MAC bowl games here. We're talking BCS. Way different than what the shaky gopher boy had ahead of him.
If I was Doeren, the only jobs I would consider is Tennessee, Arkansas, and Auburn. Dave has to know that next year's team will be even better and can get into a better coaching gig. Maybe Iowa or Kansas (He's a Kansas boy). I would not want a cellar job in the Big 10.
I'm sure Purdue is interested in DD, I have no reason to believe DD would settle considering his position at that point.

The Orange Bowl is still a long shot but can you imagine the interest he will get if we make it? Purdue wouldn't stand a chance
I'm not trying to stir anything up, but a coach will not stay at a mid-major school in hopes that they will be even better the next year.

Look at Southern Miss and Houston from last year to this year. Southern Miss was 12-2, with a win in the conference championship game. This year, they are 0-12. Houston was 13-1, almost made a BC$ bowl, with a loss in their conference championship game. This year they are 5-7.

Or look at Auburn. 2010 - 14-0 & National Champions. 2011 - 8-5. 2012 - 3-9 with Chizik fired.

All of those teams lost their QB, Doeren does not.

I wasn't implying that he would wait for a better gig. My point was that he's not going to let these job prospects get in the way of getting to a BCS bowl and making him even more desirable. For this year, not so much for next. It would be very gutsy to stick around, especially if we end up getting the Orange Bowl, because well...how in the hell would you top that? He's gone at the end of bowl season should we go BCS'ing, and hopefully to a better team than a lower level Big Ten program.
