Defending C-USA Champion struggled all year.
You're being kind.

It was an unmitigated train wreck.
Southern Miss was 12-2 last season.

Going from 12-2 to 0-12 might be an NCAA record.
I believe a 24 game swing is a record.

I think a 22 game swing was a record.
I honestly don't feel sorry for them when I think back to the grief their fans have given us.
a men.
If Johnson returns, we may see emptier stadiums in Hattiesburg than we saw with Callaway.

They've been winning on a shoestring and getting more bang for their buck than any football program in the country, and one bad hire shows how fragile it all was.

Not at all.
I'm sick of the big brother adoration they have for Memphis in basketball and the attitude of entitlement in football

02-13-banana All of this COGS

I hate it for them, but at the same time I could give a rip.
I am rooting for 0-24.

Then I hope Memphis gets on probation in basketball, gets the death penalty and then starts a similar losing streak in football. 0-12 sounds nice for them too.
If they aren't blowing up Brett Favre's or Tommy Bowden's phone to offer one of them the job, they deserve a "second verse" of the same "dance" they had this year.
Nothing will change. They have no money. They may change offensive coordinators, but the wider athletic department has issues.

They really shot themselves in the foot hiring him.
If he's back with them next season it's going to be very bad. I love beating Southern Miss, but I would not have wished this on a proud program.

We went through it with Callaway... and his first season was better than this. Yeesh.
Here is what I want to see happen.

1. Ellis comes back
2. He leads the team to a 11-1 record with the one loss to us
3. Enjoy the backtracking and hypocracy of their fans as they eat their words and be the laughingstock of other CUSA fans

03-lmfao There is at least ONE program I would just COGS02-13-banana04-cheers to see this happen to...Hint: 1 hour west of Birmingham (& it's not Stillman College!)

I sincerely doubt this...They've lost a great deal of "street cred" in the conference now...NOBODY wants to be the first team to lose to them now, and I hope to God that UAB is not their first victim, now or ever!

When do the "newbies" start conference play in football? They might be able to get a win off of one of them. Charlotte perhaps, by them being "football virgin" and all.

I think they got hit a couple of feet higher though.

03-lmfao I was just trying to be polite!
This is a good thread to review for those who "expectorated" or "predictorated" that we would be conference champions this year with a pack of Callaway's recruits and a prayer.

I think 3-9 is starting to look mighty fine in comparison to those golden fried chicken tenders from Hattiesburg.
