It may mean Miami and FSU are not bailing for the 12. Maybe the ACC only loses 2 to the B10 and 2 to the SEC. That would leave the ACC with 12.

Down the road if the Texhoma thing ever happens the B12 leftovers and the ACC could merge and be the 4th conference.

I wouldn't read anything into it past:
1) UC has better football then USF
2) UC has much better basketball than USF
3) UC has a long standing rivalry with Louisville.
Only the BE has to chose a school like U(fill in blank)F.
As long as FSU is in the ACC, no other FL teams will be considered. FSU will bolt. They're just waiting out the SEC.
UC and USF had their play in game to the ACC last night.
UofL and UConn have their play in game for the ACC today.

That was my point also. Maybe FSU has given notice they are in for the long haul.
I do not understand why there would be any confusion here. The ACC has no need for 3 schools in Florida. As a result, there is no reason to invite USF or UCF, at least not until FSU or Miami leave the ACC.

ACC NORTH
BC \ UConn
Syracuse \ Pitt
Cincinnati \ Louisville
Virginia \ Virginia Tech

ACC SOUTH
North Carolina \ Duke
NCSU \ Wake Forest
Clemson \ Georgia Tech
Florida State \ Miami

ACC HOOPS
Notre Dame \ Butler

Everybody has a travel partner and at least one primary rival. The last piece of the puzzle is adding another non-football school to balance Notre Dame. If they ever go all-in, Navy can join for football-only.
WVU insider MHver tweeted both UC AND USF contacted yesterday. Take it for what it's worth.
I would take UC over USF whether the Florida schools leave or not. No brainer.
No interest in either of those schools. Cincinnati may as well be a MAC school in Ohio (nobody cares) and people think USF is in Cali. Please stop!

As much as I would love Butler to be part of that lineup I would guess we hear St Johns or Georgetown to the ACC

It could be any non-football school, but Butler makes a perfect travel partner and scheduling balancer for Notre Dame in basketball, as well as all of the non-revenue sports that will have to travel to Indiana. Georgetown, Villanova, or St. John's would skew the geography to the Northeast a bit too much.

Dude, it is the other way around. No one in Cincinnati cares about Ohio. You live in Ohio, but a NC fan? Seriously, where did you go Wal-Mart?

Oh, I'm sorry. Where did I say I was born and raised in Ohio you MORON?
UConn>Cincinnati. Easily. I can't believe what this has come to. Cincinnati? Really? Lord help us.

It is about TV sets....Cincy is in a larger market. Nothing else really matters at this point.
Did I miss the ACC choosing Cincinnati?

Rumor from Tallahassee reporter and Cincy 247 message board

I think it's an act of calculated desperation. They are admitting that they are in competition with the Big 12 for survival. The alleged move removes easy expansion targets from the Big 12. The Big 12 is now left with expansion West: Colorado State for television and B.Y.U. for television.

I call it desperation because beyond this move the options for the ACC get thinner too. Let's assume that the Big 10 and SEC are capable of picking off 4 more ACC schools between them. If the ACC wishes to remain viable then schools like Tulane, S.M.U., South Florida, and Houston come into play. You could throw in UCF, or E.C.U. if you wanted. To preserve Wake, Louisville, and UCF and UConn these moves could be likely. But at that point they are no longer one of the Big 5. If U.N.C., Duke, or Virginia leave the ACC becomes the Big East/CUSA merger with a fancier name.

No argument on the desperation. Just thinking the ACC might believe they will keep a FL presence after this go around either in FSU or Miami or both. Maybe the B12 can't pull from the ACC even after the BiG and SEC defections.

If 4 more are plucked why wouldn't the ACC stick at 12 members instead of watering down the product even more?
