The ultimate eastern conference of course. Its a balanced all-sports behemoth. Football would be 8 conference games, 5 in division and 3 out of division, 1 of which is a permanent rival, the other 2 rotating. Basketball would be 16 games, playing everyone once and 5 repeat matchups, 3 of which would be permanent repeats and the other 2 rotating. The permenant rivals would be reevaluated in both sports every few years.

I don't know how much national appeal a conference would have with the Commmonwealth of Virginia, and the states of North Carolina and South Carolina. Ideally, we would all like to be able to drive a couple hours to see our team play our rivals.

All well and good, but where does Georgetown and Villanova fit in an all-sports conference? What conference provides football as well as high-major basketball opportunities for these schools?
It's clear by the tone of this board that medium sized, private schools like these are not candidates for any of these expansion scenarios. Anyone who would get on this board and make the case to take Georgetown and Villanova in football over state-supported schools like ECU, UCF, and Memphis would be, well...
And talking about conferences, what about St. John's? At 20,000 students, it's too big for any of the smaller NE conferences and actually larger in size than Syracuse.
