Do you guys know what pro teams are?
It's the Redmen...period
They've really got to get rid of that bird mascot.

At least it wasn't Thunder Horse...

They all look pretty bad. Storm Hero? That lightning bolt thing? The bear is decent but whatever.

So are you saying St. John's is more popular than the Yankees or Mets? More popular than the Jets/Giants? Sorry if I think that's a bit of an overstatement.

Did I say that? Are we not on a college sports message board? So why would i be talking about professional sports? Your attempt at being clever has failed so hard.

Your thread title was "RE: Who is NYC's team?". New York's team are pro-teams. College teams are way down the list.

Also, your evidence was an ad and a parade photo. How does that prove they are NYC favorite college team? UC sells ad space in Louisville but I doubt any UC fan would say the Bearcats are Louisville's team. I just don't see anything to suggest St John's is head and shoulder above Cuse or some of the other teams in the area.

Well since this was in a college sports thread i guess i still need to spell it out for our denser friends when we're discussing college sports.

Did I say favorite team? Once again, reading comprehension fails you. I said NYC's team. Syracuse is 6 hours away. Advertising for games in Times Square and being in the biggest tradition in the city helps prove that. UC putting up a billboard on some street in Louisville is not the same as being plastered up in times square.

Quit while you're ahead. Your attempts at trolling have failed miserably. I create a nice little thread showing how SJU has been all over manhattan this week and you try to chit all over it. Too bad you came out looking so silly. Trolling is an art, and you really suck at it.

I'm not trolling. I just don't see any evidence from you suggesting St. John's is somehow NYC college team. Advertising doesn't means the team is the number one college team or the best support. All it means is the university paid money to put up an ad. Buying ad space tells me nothing about actual fan interest, TV ratings, game attendance, merchandise sales, etc. If you have those numbers, your argument would be a lot stronger (e.g. how do Syracuse and Saint John's TV ratings for hoops compare in the NYC market?).

As an aside, I'm not sure anyone can really claim to be THE college team of NYC because of how diverse the city is. With a city like New York, you're going to have tons of alums from all over the US and tons of people who don't really care at all about college sports. I'm sure St John's has a big fan base in NYC (probably even the biggest given their tradition and location), but I'm sure that Syracuse, UConn, Penn St, etc all do as well.

You are trolling.

The fact that St. John's is IN NYC means they are NYC's team.

You really are bad at this.

Is that really the argument? Can Columbia claim to be NYC's team due simply to location? After all, they also have Division one basketball without a top level football team, and heck, they're even in Manhattan!

Alright lets get all the UofL fans in here! Are you guys still butthurt that the ACC is going to pass you guys up again? Is that what this is all about? Are you guys acting out because of jealousy? The constant bridesmaid? It's okay, you'll always have Memphis.
St Johns vs Detroit ... attendance 3506.

St Johns vs Holy Cross ... attendance 4030.

You're not even Flushing's College Team.

I'll just assume you have no valid argument since you resorted to childish slams that have nothing to do with the topic at hand.
well from this outsiders view I've always seen St. Johns as NYC's team....
Giants, Yankees, Knicks
