That had to be one of the worst officiated game that I have ever seen!!!!!!!! 03-pissed

We, as Rocket fans, need to start a fund and have refs flown in from other parts of the country...... I'm tired of being homered at home!!!!!!!!05-mafia

Hey MAC Conference, "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!"

I don't know what you are smoking Terry, I think MAC refs are awesome!! 05-stirthepot
They have been bad forever. You get what you pay for.
They were bad and have been bad all season. I was in front of the personal foul called on the east side. The defender had a hold of his jersey as they rolled out of bounds. Terrible. But then we also did some dumb things to add to the penaldrive that ensued.
Terry - i have no voice today at work because of that jole of an officiating crew.

I think that was the same crew that did the tosu game last year. They got reprimanded by the NCAA, and they are looking at any opportunity to screw us. I wish there was more accountability for these guys. They were obvviously out to get us. That one drive, they were clearly trying to give Akron a TD. Our D stepped up big time and held which was a sign that there is a GOD, because that was sure justice after how bad the officiating was.

I hope each of these officials know how bad they must have looked on national TV, and i hope they get turned down for other opportunities because of games like last night.

I hope UT submits another appeal to the NCAA about these officials. Maybe after so many reprimands, these guys will get fired! I hope we don't see these clowns in our bowl game.

GO ROCKETS!!!
CANT COUNT TIME OUTS??????? LOL
I agree Terry, those refs really stunk. I lost it on the roughing the kicker penalty ,thinking like all who were in our section the ball was partially blocked.
The head ref looked directly at me when upon review the call on the field stood.04-jawdrop
Some of those refs are so old you have to wonder why the MAC continues to use them.
The Akron board was commenting on how bad the officiating was.....against Toledo. Nevertheless, the call on the block looked right to me and to the booth guy. Others were ticky tack but some were dumb plays by the Rockets. I don't gripe much. It's a no-win job.

Haven't seen the replay, but how was the punt so awful if we didn't either block it, or blow up the punter before he got the ball away?

I was wondering the same thing.
I was once told by a long time official that his job was somewhat like that of a wedding photographer. Do your job, stay out of the way, and for the most part be unnoticed.
I think last night's officials were more like "The Wedding Singer"

Looked to me like he rushed the kick and got it real funky off the end of his toe. I didn't even mind that penalty-it was a great effort and just missed. Others in my group disagreed but the ball came out ahead of the hit from what I could see.
That punt was partially blocked. After watching the replay from my DVR - you noticed the following:

- The ball started going end over end right away and was veering to the kicker's right when it got airborne
- The guy that blocked it (Silvestre) immediately started looking around on the ground to see where the ball was. He knew he got it and figured it was bouncing around on the ground near him.
- The punter never looked back at the ref to fake an injury or to plead for the flag to be thrown. He knew it was blocked, but it got off anyway. He just jumped up and started running down the field to help with the return defense.

The guy that threw the flag was behind the punter and never got a clean look at what happened. The video replay is almost always going to be "play stands as called" because you cannot reverse the call based on other factors that indicate it was blocked. I knew we were going to get screwed on that call after the flag was thrown and I saw the first replay.

The strange thing about the officiating is that we may be the only team in the MAC who consistently gets screwed over at home. You almost expect to get calls going your way more often than not on your home field with the fans having some impact on how calls will go. Not the case for us. We won the game so it is not sour grapes - just something that has become more than irritating for a long time. We can't blame it on lack of discipline when this has happened consistently with 3 different coaches. We did not have those issues to this extent when Pinkel was here.

The Ref could have his picture posted in Wikipedia for the for the definition of "dufus".
just went back and watched the replay on the espn3 site...you can hear him get part of the ball -- distinct sound -- and as earlier poster mentioned, the ball changes trajectory. and the guy who got a piece of it knew he did, as mentioned, as he was looking for the ball.
YES, yes, and yes. I was told that early in the 1st quarter the white hat [way out ay his position] yelled at one of the coaches who was signaling in the call while standing in the white area. He was dumbfounded and didn't understand what was wrong with his actions. Something that every coach in America does before each play. Some guys/crews just are bad and these guys are the definition of bad. It was real evident that they couldn't handle the game when the white hat returned to his position after the review of the punt block call. He started to wind the clock which was correct thing to do. Only problem was that his crew had not even moved the ball yet from the spot at the end of the play. His crew had to stop him so they could administer the penalty. We would of lost about 15 more yards above the personal foul yardage. It started bad and spiraled downward from there.

Adunifon,

Is there anyway to put it on this site???? I'm sure most would like to see that replay.
Yeah, I had a great sight line and the punt was clearly blocked. The refs sucked!
I think Toledo earned all those penalties this time.

Very undisciplined game.

TV didn't have any angles that show it blocked. Or touched.
Couldn't see what you saw from the stands.

Atleast thats what the commentators and myself thought. Definitely not a obvious change of trajectory. But might be some. And could of gone either way I suppose. Hard to overturn though.

I'm a fan of many things in life. Penaldrives, however, are not one of them.
