Nice day for CFB. TU was ready and I get the idea that UCF was "kinda" ready. I thought this was K Garretts best game and he's becoming solid and dependable but isn't a great blocker. I'd like to see Roberson get the ball more. Trey was just fantastic. He's faster than people give him credit for and shifty with a capital S.

The game was what I'd call a "wind game". The wind had a major effect on the field of play. Us winning the toss was a huge deal. We were able to kick off to them the first quarter and forced them to go into it right away and that allowed us to get the ball the third quarter and the wind the fourth. I thought O'Leary might take the wind the 4th Quarterinstead of the third, but I guess he was afraid to KO initially and give us instant field position to begin the 2nd half. We definitely won the field position battle.

Our defense is just awsome at this point. We are fairly injury free/healthy and the DLine is at the top of its game. UCF looked puzzled at times trying to block our front four. Didn't have to blitz much but we did pick "their" poison a few times. Guy is a flat out Def genius IMO.

Kicking game stunk again and I won't keep beating that decaying horse , but something needs to be done and IMO it ain't talent.

BB and the coaches had a good game plan and kept to it. CG still throws off that back foot too much and the deep pass against the wind was one of the dumbest calls I can remember.

But a win is a win. In the end, that's what matters.
I watched the majority of the 2nd half of the C-USA Championship from here in ODU's T.V. market. Congrats Tulsa!

BTW, I saw no other thread about today's game, so I figured I'd slip the Congrats note in here.
I will give the whole team credit today.....I don't think it was their best game by any means, but, as you said, a win is a win and that's all that counts. We continue to win games despite not having a QB......even the announcers were amazed that we weren't passing when UCF had 8 and 9 players in the box and we were behind.....that totally has to be a realization by the coaches that every pass is an adventure and it wasn't worth the chance. I really, really would have loved to see how good this team could have been with an average QB. I thought maybe we would have used a spy for their QB who made more yards rushing than passing but he did what was necessary and it kept them in the game. It was exciting and Tulsa did what it needed to do to win and I loved it!!!!

That was actually an assessment from the first UCF regular season game and is pretty much the same as the second except for the KG comment.

I actually thought I'd have made some different decisions during this game than the coaching staff. For instance, I'd have kicked the FG on the last play of the 1st half - sure points. I'd also have punted (against the wind) from midfield instead of gone for that first down that failed. But, both of those were predicated on a better kicking game that we obviously didn't have. My thinking on the fourth down play that failed, was that we didn't want to give UCF the ball, the wind and good field position all at once. Since we failed on 4th down and they got it and scored, I'll argue I was right.

Its uncanny that both times the UCF games were what I'd classify as "wind games". The wind severely effected "on field" play.

I love the fact that the kids were so happy after the game - they'll remember this for the rest of their lives - forever, forever and a day! Just a couple of kicks and a few throws and we'd be undefeated with 13 games won and a BCS bid. Beautiful dreamer (13-0), but not in the cards this year.
