On his show this morning, Tim Brando interviewed Aresco, helped him promote the BE and then suggested to Aresco that the BE should go after ECU. Aresco said he can't mention schools by name, etc.

So ECU, not everyone is against you!

Every little bit helps
It is unreal that ECU has not already been invited. It tell me what BS realignment is. there is no logic to it.
That's not exactly what actuallly happened. He did interview the conference commisioner and say he was getting lots of emails about ECU getting an invite so he asked Aresco if they were being considered.
Nope.

Yeah, I would have been much more positive about the nBE if they had expanded by taking ECU, Memphis and UCF along with Temple instead of the venture into Texas and the far west. But it is what it is. The fun isn't over either and I fully expect the BE, after losing Rutgers plus at least 1 more, to get ECU, Fresno St and one more to at least temporarily get to the 14 mark. The "one more" is the interesting piece of the puzzle to me. Will it be an unexpected school such as resurgent San Jose St or will UNLV or UNM get the call? Maybe Tulsa? How about UMass?
One thing to remember- when UConn/Louisville leave- that puts the BE at 8 all sports schools.. If another one is lost, an all sports school must be added... Not saying it'll be ECU, but it could very easily be the case...
I wouldn't be surprised either way. I would say ECU is on the list.

why does that mean an all sport school MUST be added? you've got what.... 16 members after the Rutgers defection?
The BE is about to be sacked.

You have to have at least 8 all sports schools....

I could honestly see us working out something where they take all of our sports except basketball. Which I wouldn't mind playing in the CAA.

That wouldn't count towards the 8.
The BE, CUSA, MWC and even the Sunbelt need to get in a room together; all the commissioners, all the AD's; and figure out 4 regional conferences that span the continent and negotiate with the Power 5, NCAA and the networks with one voice that has 4 votes behind it.

When looknig for a Rutgers replacement I don't think basketball will be the primary concern since the Scarlet Knights finished at 6-12 in conference play last year and are not a strong hoops program. Not saying it will be ECU but I don't think their basketball program automatically disqualifies them.
If there are four "superconferences" then there should be four "non" MAC, Mountain West, Big East and a Sun Belt/C-USA hybrid or merger.

love that thought... of the 44 teams in that group, the Big East has probably the 5 strongest(Louisville(assuming UConn goes ACC), Cincy, UCF, Boise, and San Diego St. But, they're just going to give that up to make the others feel better......
Sunbelt and C-USA should merge.
ECU goes to the Big East.
UTEP and Tulsa could go to Mountain West along with returning Boise, SDSU and BYU.
Marshall, Old Dominion, Middle Tenn. State and Western Kentucky to MAC.

4 non-BCS leagues instead of 5 is better. Just an idea.

Well they've already lost their AQ status and while 2 of those are in what may be considered the BE's "natural" footprint; the other two have to be reevaluating their previous decision now that the AQ is gone.

Not that Brando has any pull but he has said in the recent past on air that the Big East was stupid for not taking ECU and mentioned the whole 50k strong thing with our attendance
