Message from UC President
Dear UC Community,
Given the recent developments in athletics conference realignment, I want our Bearcat family to know that we are not only closely monitoring the situation but also working proactively to protect and serve the best interests of the University.

Our message to the broader community is that UC is firmly committed to competing at the highest level, both on and off the field. From our research profile to our number of national merit scholars, UC stands tall as one of the top public research universities in the nation. Moreover, we are building a remarkable amount of momentum, as evidenced by our 17 spot leap in the U.S. News & World Report ranking over the past two years.

Also impressive is the heightened success of our athletic programs. Last year, for instance, UC ended the season with top 25 finishes in both football and basketball—a fact that only five other schools in the country can claim. Plus, the academic success of our student-athletes has never been stronger.

In short, UC has a terrific story to tell, and we will not miss an opportunity to share our aspirations and accomplishments with our peers.

During this time of fast-paced developments, as well as widespread rumors, I respectfully ask for your patience and understanding. Please know that we are doing all that we can to secure the best outcome for UC.

I deeply appreciate the input and support of our loyal fans as well as the tremendous efforts of our teams, coaches, student-athletes and athletic director.

Santa J. Ono, President
Interesting that not once does he mention loyalty to our current conference.
Not a single line of Turdish in that.
Smart to make a response to the fans, alumni et al. I want my UC
to be proactive, and Dr Ono gets it.

In short short , we are pitching to the ACC and hoping like hell .

Go Ono!
The guy is a natural leader.....and excellent communicator. Well done by him. Go Ono go.

I'm wondering if he's reaching out to Williams to help at all. The way Williams exited probably means that is unlikely, but Williams spent a lot of time on this issue, has a much longer experience base to leverage past relationships, etc. I know he's being paid to provide on-going "consulting" through sometime next year.........which is probably all "contract talk BS". If not, the more experienced hands and voices we have working the phones on our behalf...the better.
I am sure the ACC eggheads like Ono. Wasn't he at Duke this week for a meeting?

Just what I was thinking too. How can you not love a guy like that?

GO ONO! 04-rock
Tis' the season that Santa delivers.
That letter was written for other conferences as much as it was our fans.

Sell it, Dr. O!
Thank god he didn't mention "we are committed to the Big East".

Absolutely! And he didn't trash it either. Perfectly done IMO.
Love Ono...sell it brotha
We are committed to the Big East unless the ACC or Big 12 comes along or another conference falls apart and the leftovers form a super conference.

At this point all we can do is watch and hope the everything plays out in our favor.

That was the first thought I had as well. I have been completely impressed with President Ono so far, very glad he is at the helm during this mess.
Watchers never get to dance..I'd rather be proactive..

I'm sure they are. In just under three days Maryland and Rutgers moved to the Big Ten conference. News surfaced later last week but I'm sure they were working on something in the weeks or months leading up to last weekend.

It's repetitious, but I'll chime in with my agreement. We never know what's going on behind closed doors, but I feel confident that Pres. Ono is doing his best to sell the school and maximize its options.
As long as Cincinnati is doing its best to sell itself, I'm good.
I agree with what others have said, Ono is the man. So many times we heard from Williams about how great the Big East is and it's bright future, blah, blah, blah. Ono doesn't give us that fluff, he flat out comes out and tells us that he is working his ass off and doing everything possible to see that we get a bid to the ACC or Big 12. Love it.
Ono Wan Kenobi...these are the droids you are looking for...
