Man, it looks like the BE is going to way of the WAC (aka: Extinction) :noisycricket:

The Big East does not make ANY sense...... especially to those teams.
Here is the question.
If the Big East folds, do we take Temple back?

Sure. All sports.

I would.

I'd really force Temple's hand as a full-time member though... And then they could force UMass' hand...
Take us back!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not convinced that the BE will fold...it's still a step up for a lot of programs mired in leagues like C-USA.

The new Big East is C-USA of 10 years ago.
..not far from the truth, Optmist, and maybe even moreso if they try to backfill their losses with ECU, etc.
We could make a rock solid, northern conference here that is good at both Football and Basketball..........if we could get a few schools to move forward with Hockey then we could create a dominant Hockey Conference with Miami, WMU and BGSU as it's base.

The Big East will not fold as a hoops conference and Temple will not leave them in the lurch.

But you're spot on in saying those should be our demands!
Its kind of funny on the realignment board how some of these cusa fans think their schools are all so good and deserve the big east. Half of the teams have never even been ranked and there hasnt been one ranked in the polls yet this year.

The biggest thing I learned from the article was that BYU feels pressure in joining a league again for G5 access. If they're only making 4 million per school as the article states (most believe that number is closer to 8 million) then rejoining a league might not be a bad idea.

Does it make sense for BYU to rejoin the MWC for football where you are looking at 2 million for football school tops OR join the Big East where that money is projected to be around 6 million per FB school?

While the loss of Rutgers and say UConn carries a lot of shock value initially, once that wears off the BE still has 3 Top 25 level football programs in it (Boise State, Louisville, Cincinnati) while several more schools (SDSU, UCF, Navy) play solid football. Temple, USF, Houston, SMU are at least OK.

Contrast the BE with some of the dead wood found in the MWC and CUSA. The worst BE teams would be top tier in those leagues.
It looks like they need a name change

The Big CUSA
If they keep losing teams it's going to be The Small CUSA

+1. No real reason to take Temple back unless they were bringing basketball with them. Which they won't.
Hope that MAC buyout Temple forked over was worth it to play in the Big East football for a year and get that losing record, no resume wins, and watch 7 MAC teams bowling Lol
The MAC needs to play hardball and demand Temple comes back in an all or nothing deal, but I think it is silly to pretend they don't help us out in football only. Temple adds value to the MAC as a football member.

True but if this realignment bs is gonna be centered around deception and hardball, thr MAC front office should join the game. Sure Temple unless you want to join sunbelt, Cusa, or the A-10 in football you bring all sports, Sign a 5 million buyout, and go back go your room.
