2) Culturally, Maryland is a fragmented state, with two major urban areas (DC and Baltimore), the Eastern Shore, and the WV-lite hill people to the west. Expect to see lots of boat shoes.

3) Maryland is obsessed with basketball and lacrosse, our record in football can best be described as “participation.”

4) Crab cakes are delicious, you’re welcome.

5) Maryland is a wealthy state but did not start seriously supporting the university until the early 90's. This is reflected in our small but growing endowment that is dwarfed by the endowments in the B10. We're working on it.

6) Our fans can be jack asses. They're drunk college kids, regard them accordingly.

7) UMD is desperate for a rivalry so don't freak out if we come on too strong at first.

8) The Wire is pretty accurate.

I went to Baltimore for work a couple years ago. Friends in the area took me to Oblinski's? in some part of town that was "gentrifying", so scary at night.

Crabs were ok, but damn expensive.

2. Geographically I think Maryland may be the craziest state in the Union. Stuff like that is pretty cool in my book.

3. Football may float the boat but the Big Ten throws a pretty mean basketball party on that boat. LaCrosse? Well...maybe you guys can teach us and in the meantime dominate.

5. I think inclusion into the Big Ten will help you big time in this department.

6. Maryland has come to the right conference. Our schools have very large enrollments and that leads to A LOT of drunk college kids.

7. Penn State is dying for a hug right now.
