BE splits along the basketball only school lines.

Current/Future BE + CUSA E = good conference.

MWC + CUSA W = good conference.

Sun Belt and MAC left to be feeder conferences.

I've been of a mind that the conferences will bumble and stumble their way into this kind of sense sooner or later. The logic may just be strong enough to bend the fabric of this alternate universe so much that this scenario is unavoidable...despite the efforts of many to avoid it as much as possible.
MWC + CUSA West would be too far-flung. I don't think the MWC schools want to be back in a conference with anyone east of Texas. More likely the MWC tries to lure BSU and SDSU back; otherwise it could make a play for UTEP and Tulsa, especially if the Big East backfills with CUSA schools like ECU and Tulane instead of MWC schools like Fresno State and UNLV.

Read it again. He said MWC + CUSA West...no one in CUSA West is East of Texas but Tulane. The Big East won't backfill with CUSA schools because the BE basketball schools will not allow further watering down of hoops and no CUSA school is going to accept a football-only invite.

Louisiana Tech isn't east of Texas?

The question for the BE basketball schools is whether they want to remain in a conference with football schools. Assuming they do, I think they will have to accept at least one more all-sports addition, because otherwise the BE will drop down to the NCAA minimum of eight football-playing all-sports members and that's a risky place to be in the current environment.

If SDSU and Boise come back to the MWC, I think it would be with Tulsa and UTEP. 7 team divisions would let Boise play in the Pacific division. If more teams left CUSA for the Big East then I think the MWC could pry Utep and Tulsa loose from CUSA.

Having said that, I don't think SDSU and Boise are coming back. They will stick this out and await future developments.

I agree. The BE losing Rutgers and UConn isn't enough to drive them back to the MWC.
Well, with Rutgers out of the BE officially.....

And Maryland out of the ACC officially....

Its seems like with some schools having second thoughts about the BE that my idea is making more and more sense..... hell it might even make cents.
