This is going to be short, because after a complete face-plant like that, there isn't much to say.

The Good

I ran a 5K at the Botanical Gardens with the smokin' hot Mrs. Smaug and the little Smaugs yesterday morning. Littler Smaug scored a third place ribbon in her age group. Very cool.

Tailgating was, as always, a blast. The best part of game day. It sure went to hell in a handbasket quick after that, though.

The bad

We all watched the same game, right? Senior Day. A rivalry game. We never showed. How does that happen? I saw it with Watson, I saw it with Callaway. I'm surprised at McGee. I think (hope) that this was a learning experience for our young coach. We'd won two, were playing well, were starting to feel good about the direction of the program, and Whammo! Complete collapse.

I don't know what this week's practice and preparation were like, but however subtle the differences were during the week, they were glaring as hell yesterday.

Is JP so bad, or McGee just a sadist to let Brown stand out there and get killed over and over again? I get building character, but to what end, if at the end of the day you're taking him off the field with a broom and a dust pan?

We didn't block. We didn't tackle. We didn't throw. We didn't catch. Hell, we've been special teams demons this year, and got owned there, too.

Bad, bad, bad.

I've sat in the sky boxes exactly twice. Both against Memphis. Both losses. This one is on me.

The Ugly

There was a real ass-kicker of a hill right at the start of the 5K, and the course was a double loop, so it kicked my ass twice. I will definitely plan for it next time.

So, what does this mean, Barbara?

I'm making no predictions, but if McGee is worth his weight in salt, the Blazers come out with fire in their eyes against UCF. Having said that, there's a side of me that would like to see him start Joe Bento. I'd like to see him complete a pass to a teammate.

That's all I got. For now. I think.
We can't keep laying eggs then coming out with fire on alternating days.

We have to be consistent. We need to continue to recruit and promote personnel who don't blow hot and cold. We need a team that blows hot early, often, and all day long.

We're the "Blazers" not the "sucking winders" time to start playing like it!
Well, yesterday was a clear object lesson in what happens when you don't bring it.

Hopefully it won't be lost on them.

We are the most hilarious team in history. We can fashion laurels to sit on out of a mere two victories and a piece of wire. 03-phew
Yeah, it's what I get for being an optimist.

And those optimists in Vegas, too.
yesterday totally sucked. The game in ALL aspects and I think I've messed my knee up.
can we call vega and please tell them to never place UAB a favor by a double digit :)
No kidding.

BTW, Frenchy, I understand that I'm indebted to you for the ticket upgrade yesterday.

Merci beaucoup.
I hope that they realize that the trophy that was made by us is now in Memphis's hands until ???. How many of your exes would you want to have your property in a divorce? As a former player that's motivation enough for me after the ***kicking I saw on the field.

no problem
I watch the game on the computer and IT was bad .........

Yeah, that's pretty embarrassing.

I console myself with the knowledge that we beat them 2/3 of the time.

Not much today, but in a year or two... 03-lol

I know UAB got the ball rolling on the trophy thing, but did we pay for its creation ourselves? Or did Memphis chip in?
I don't know who paid for it, but it was made by the metal arts forge folks at Sloss.
With respect to ugly, one little thing that pissed me off was the blocked extra point. As minor as it was in garbage time, I watched as Ty hit a line drive right into the line, and them nobody reacted like it was a live ball. Nobody. If that's not a complete lack of focus, I don't know what is.

I'll place that call if you will. I actually had UAB on my Football Pickem list to win by 10 at Blazer Nation.com...
There's a "dark cloud" hanging over this football program. It was clearly evident yesterday.

It's not that you're a jinx in the sky box...more of not being able to get into the opposing team's heads from there.
I sat in the sky box against Houston last year. I do not see myself as the reason we got killed. Actually made the loss go down a little easier.
I sat in the sky box next to Gary Sanders twice in 1993. We won both games (against Lambuth & Dayton)
