If the ACC beat them to the punch and added UConn, Louisville and Cincinnati to go to 16 teams, the Big XII would effectively have no expansion candidates that weren't multiple states away (but that didn't stop them from getting WV).

After those teams, are there any teams left?

The Big 12 should take Louisville and Boise State. If so, the Big East would be wrecked! They would have no choice but to expand to take the C-USA members that once played with them when they were in C-USA.
Well, the article WesternBlazer just posted says that Florida State may entertain leaving the ACC for the Big XII. This is getting ridiculous.
Since all BS is fair game, here is some more

On expansion, @CecilHurt says Va Tech and NC State most likely, if SEC takes 2 more.

Die? Really? Dude, you are one scary little man. You and some of your UAB buddies butthurt is really showing thru with all ya'll's predictions about the Big East demise. Really makes ya'll look stupid and a little childish. Guess 46-9 will do that to you.

How many times can you post that word in one thread? You sound like a 12 year old girl who just learned the new in phrase.

Why the hell does he continue to bring up 46-9? How about 10-5? Yea, we got our ass kicked Saturday, but you have been our b^%$& in football for 9 out of the past 12 years, including 7 straight '00-'06. Do you really want to keep bringing up the score. Because I am more than happy to bring up the series score every fn time! Go back CKs on Highland and have a waffle or something!

Same reason we used to bring up our victory over USM (although its becoming a regular thing). Years of frustrations finally released.

To have a team you are convinced you are better than year after year, some years seemingly thru the use of miracles, must be extremely frustrating. let them enjoy their victory.

But to put it in perspective, here is where their win ranks on Memphis radio today

1. Grizzlies dominance
2. Tigers struggle with Samford
3. Derek Dooley fired
4. Return of SEC to title game

5. Memphis beats UAB

We are going to lose another team in C-USA. My guess is East Carolina is headed to the Little East.
If that is the case, Western Kentucky invite.
I say we go independent and demand a BCS tie-in regardless of how we are ranked
Just saw an article where Army & BYU only receive $100,000 from the BCS or NCAA because they are an independent.

We cannot afford that little.

East Carolina fans seem to be the only ones who think they are next in line for the Big East. If the Big East wanted that program, they would have been there way before Houston and SMU. The market is holding that program in C-USA right now.

If Rutgers and UConn are out, then the Big East looks like this in football:

Temple
Louisville
Cincy
USF
UCF
Houston
SMU
Memphis

That makes 8 teams. They will need 2-4 more. Louisville may not stay in the Big East either, so 3-5 teams would be needed. With our market and basketball program, we are a solid option to be one of those.
Outside of Temple, you can call it Old CUSA.

Boise and SDSU are also still in there. And didn't the academies join as well?

Temple is the only football playing school left that geographically is in the East. Yikes...
Who really want to leave the conference to be part of that sinking ship.
The CUSA Commissioner should resign, quit or be fired if he gets CUSA involved in that mess. Let them come to CUSA.
All this proactive stuff you guys are talking about is laughable.

We will do like we have always done. Wait until the wolf comes back to steal another sheep. Only this time, the wolf is actually another sheep. Won't matter though, as long as the process is orderly.

Do you think Boise State and San Diego State are going to stick with this league?

No, the academies did not join.

Not yet. I think either Army or Navy is scheduled to begin BE play in 2014.
Navy for 2015
What is interesting about this entire situation is the fact that Maryland and Rutgers have mediocre to poor football programs. I mean Maryland has Under Armour which could turn into the Oregon/Nike leading to success, but still they have been downright horrible for years. This almost as bad as the Pac-12 adding Colorado...
Let's let Memphis back in just long enough to get our damn ribs back.
