Hickey's statement from the AD's Newsletter:
"A piece of good bowl news that came out this week is that the highest rated conference champion from the “Group of Five” conferences will receive an automatic berth to the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). This “Group of Five” includes the Big East, Mid-American, Mountain West, Sun Belt and our new home—Conference USA. The highest rated team of the five conference champions would be assured a berth in one of the six rotating access bowls, which will include the Rose, Sugar, Orange and three yet to be determined. These six bowls will be filled by the highest rated conference champion from the “Group of Five” along with the league champs from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, PAC-12 and SEC, and six at-large teams. All of this is part of the first year of the new college football playoff system that begins in the 2014 season."
