Archie Goodwin will be transferring back to UALR any time soon. Played 37 minutes against Duke tonight and scored 16 points, as well as 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Duke did beat Kentucky's young "pups".
I noticed that in the first game he had around 16 or 17 points and was 3 of 8 from the field. But he scored a lot of free throws. In the pick up games I saw him play in they weren't calling fouls. I don't know what his stats were tonight, but I'd bet he scored a lot of points at the free throw line. I usually judge a player's scoring ability on his ability to shoot the outside shot, but obviously Archie has figured a way to score in other ways. I recall Derrick Rose wasn't a particularly great outside shooter at Kentucky, but he's done pretty well in the pros.
Kentucky's offense is built around guards driving to the basket and either scoring layups or getting fouled. So I agree. I don't believe Archie will be playing in a Trojan uniform very soon. I'm glad he's doing well. He seemed like a nice young man when I met him several years ago.
