Home Depot 3Q net income edges higher on recovering housing market, tops estimates

Quote:The slowly improving housing market was another focus for the quarter. Data is mounting that the housing market is slowly improving, with U.S. home prices and new home sales pace increasing, although they remain well below peak levels.

Home Depot’s CEO Frank Blake said that contributed to quarterly results.

“Our third-quarter results were better than we expected and reflected, in part, what we believe is the start of the path toward the healing of the housing market,” he said in a statement.

In a call with analysts, he added that he sees the housing market becoming “an assist to our growth rather than an anchor.”
I assume you'll be starting a thread for every company that has lowered earnings expectations, or misses their forecast?
I'd like to know how Obama improved the economy. What did he do? Tell me.

But all of a sudden the left likes it when corps make money. Why?
HD's earnings are based completely on my spend there the last 2 months. Way too much money.

Trying to put money in the pockets of the middle class through his leadership.

The left wants corps to make money, they just seed no need for corporate welfare if a company does not need it. Why do you think otherwise?
This goes along with the information I have been privy to over the last couple of months. My contacts in the building materials industry(plywood) predict a very good year coming. They are predicting at least a 30% upswing in business.

Forget politics....If this occurs, it will be good news for the economy. Housing drives the bus. I for one will be glad to see it. We have have a horrible 4 to 6 years.

Some of us oppose it even if it is needed.

The best remedy for everything is a strong economy. I have always maintained that most of this chit is cyclical anyway. If Barry gets the benefit of a good economy?..I could care less. I got fing bills to pay.
My main concern was that I believed there was compelling evidence to show that the bailouts/stimulus worked, and I wouldn't want Romneys measures to get the historical record as the ones which changed our economic fortunes. But, like you, that is so far removed from my desire for the economic situation to improve that that is simply just an afterthought of an afterthought.
Becasue of Hurrian Sandy, Home Depot will rake in millions. Will Obama take credit for that, too?

In fairness...The info I received about a projected upswing was well before Sandy. BTW...I trust this. It came from Reps from the largest plywood mfg. in North America. It has to do with a projected uptick in housing starts for 2013. This also was before the election and I was told it did not matter who was POTUS. Take it for what is worth. They well could be FOS.
I think most predictors showed a growth in the coming years, they obviously could be wrong but the whole '12 million jobs' that Romney cited was from a study which basically stated 'this will occur no matter who the president is'.

I hope you're right Fo Shizzle, and I'd say the same thing regardless of who won.
