What do NIU and Texas A&M have in common?

Both teams have played one football game in Tuscaloosa against Alabama and both BEAT Alabama.
I'll even give that props...04-bow
I was watching the TX A&M / Alabama game and it reminded me of the finish to the 2003 NIU / Alabama game. TX A&M was up two scores halfway through 4Q ... just like NIU was. Starting to taste the upset. Then, Alabama ripped off the 54 yd pass to Cooper, just like Shaud Williams made that 50-60 yard TD run to close it to a 1 score game back in 2003. The Alabama crowd roared, probably the loudest crowd noise I've ever heard. At that point, you felt the momentum shifting and it felt like Alabama was going to come back for the W. But both NIU and Texas A&M held on for the win.

Don't forget to mention Alabama is #1 in nation and should finish 11-1 compared to 2003 when they were under .500

Not gonna lie though that is an amazing win or NIU and I would of killed to be a part of that win!!!
Certainly defeating Alabama as #1 in 2012 is larger than back in 2003, but Alabama was #21 at the time we played them in 2003. Alabama went 10-3 in 2002, and started out 2-1 in 2003, with the 1 loss being a narrow 20-13 loss to #1 Oklahoma in Tuscaloosa two weeks before playing NIU. Things did go downhill starting with the loss to NIU, with Alabama losing 8 of the last 10 games, though 5 of the losses were only by one score. I also believe there were several key injuries, somewhat like the 2007 NIU team that underachieved at 2-10. The 2003 Alabama team definitely wasn't the same at the end of the season as they were at the beginning.
We're u at the game??? That would of been a fun game to watch and to celebrate with the players adterward

I was at the game. We were up in the upper deck in the end zone so we were pretty far from the field and didn't really get to interact with the players afterward.

It's hard to believe how quietly 85,000 fans can leave the stadium. Many Alabama fans came out to us and congratulated us on the win. Our group celebrated at the Hound's Tooth bar (I think that was the name) on campus. Even many of the students came up to congratulate us ... true "southern hospitality".

That was definitely one the greatest days of my life.
NIU could beat A&M IMO...
