There were a total of 8 Huskie fans, not counting NIU staffers, in attendance at Cabana Charleys last night. Andy Garcia was the host; I thought he asked crisp, clear questions and kept things moving which was nice to see.

Courtney Stephen and Domique Ware were the NIU players interviewed. Courtney talked about playing two years at a Canadian university and his decision to transfer to NIU. Dominique talked about the camaraderie among the DBs. He also said he's working on his M.D. in Finance. That's impressive!

DD talked about the history of the Toledo rivalry and how much winning this game means to the team and to the fans. Nice to hear him mention Coach Joe. DD said he expects Akeem Daniels will see more action this week. He really praised our D-Line and mentioned the incredible depth we have there. He also singled out McIntosh and Keith Harris for their performances in the UMass game. Said they've been working with Harris on getting yards after contact.

DD said the team is obviously amped and can't wait for the game. He said we need to also remember that it's Senior Night and everyone needs to recognize this great senior class. DD said the best way to salute the seniors is for us to have a sellout crowd next Wednesday. Totally agree with that!
The defense needs to do 3 things if we're gonna beat Toledo on Wednesday.

1. Stop or limit David Fluellen. He's the best player the Rockets have on offense. Limit what he does and it makes Toledo have to throw the ball more, like the defense did to Adonis Thomas in the 1st half of the game two years ago.

2. Get pressure on Owens with the front 4. It'll be interesting to see which D-Line shows up: the dominant one we saw against Iowa, Akron, and Buffalo, or the invisible one we saw against CMU, Ball State, and in the 1st half against WMU.

3. Win the turnover battle. Enough said.

On offense, we essentially need to Lynch to continue being Lynch.

The D-Line that shows up will largely depend on the O-Line of Toledo. Anyone have a scouting report on Toledo's Line? Ball States line was very very good, CMU's seemed decent.

I was also very happy with AJ's performance too.

I know DD has mentioned the S word a few times in regards to this game. Each of us need to do what we can to bring as many people...and remember to dress really REALLY warm so you don't wimp out in the 3rd or 4th quarter.
The sack numbers (sacks given up) are:

UT: 17 for -95 yards
NIU: 9 for -40 yards
BSU: 8 for -52 yards

AWFUL decision on IMG's part to move the show from Fatty's.

Is there anything good that IMG has done for NIU?

Wait a minute, you're too young to forget things. There's got to be a Calendar app on your Droid X!

There is a show next Thursday at 7:00 PM, we'll save you a spot at our table.

This has to be the least publicized event in NIU athletics. The show with Coach Joe used to be televised from Fatty's so there was an awareness but since then no one outside of this board know it exists. Did IMG pull the plug on televising it? Why is it not adverstised more by the athletic office?

Its mentioned every home game on the video screen

It is in every "Follow the Huskies" weekly release.

http://www.niuhuskies.com/genrel/110912aaa.html

It was also announced at the beginning of the year where they said that the event would happen there every week.

http://www.niuhuskies.com/sports/m-footb...12aab.html

Its more likely that people just dont put it high on their list of important things to do.

It is more important to have the focus on people going to the games than this event which NIU doesn't make any money. IMO its IMGs job to advertise this better as its their event.
The only good thing about having a small number of fans at the show is that DD comes over and talks to everyone. You also get a chance to talk to the players that are on the show for that week.

Still rather see it back at Fatty's though.

I think ads in the newspaper or mentions during the televised broadcast of our FB games would be a lot more effective than a couple of web pages that few besides those on this board are aware of.

At any rate, the web page says Nov. 8 was the final IHF show for the year so those planning on going next week can enjoy a burger and beer but that's about it.

Andy said there will be Inside Huskie Football next week. Hope he's right about that.
Per the website, the next and final Inside Huskie Football show is Tuesday, November 20th.
How do you know how many are Huskie fans? I was there a couple times but was sitting at the bar and wasn't wearing Huskie gear since I went straight from work. There are probably others.
Hahahaha. Bob. That signature.
