State senate trying to make us pay for the stadium using only private donations.

This isn't how it works for any other college in the state, including the lopsided thing in Harrisonburg.

At this rate Shuler Bentley will be lucky to ever play in the new stadium...

I will be very surprised if the language in the Senate version holds up. Such a funding restriction is evidently unprecedented in the state.

I hope you're right and this trouble fades quickly. I'd hate for us to have to scramble for money-making opportunities with planned stadium construction only a few years off.

Definitely yes. Just found out who this stupid ahole is and no wonder he is having heart burn problems looking at growing ODU. I am not trying to stir any **** up but why is this always some old ******* republicans that make comments like this?

I hope Bob McDonnell goes to prison. He is from VB and he did nothing but screw his home territory his entire term.

Norment is on WisM faculty. Why do I feel like this is WisM being jealous of ODU along with their coach and is trying to block ODU's rise to power in the 757?

I actually think the Senate will fix it. But the House is where all the unreasonable crazies are. That is where the stumbling block will be. Too bad I didn't win that big lottery last night...I'd fund it myself!

ODU Alumni, patriots, supportors should launch a planned and choreographed reaction to his bias behavior against ODU. He has never framed or supported this language on any other Universities state funded appropriations for the Building or expansion of State/ Public projects before. Examples John Paul (UVA ), VCU's Segal center, the 60 million dollar renovations to Lane Stadium (happening now). The Building / renovation / expansion of Bridgeforth at JMU. Funds for JMU's new Conv another 75 million. There are other projects as well.

Let's give this chump a world-class response, guys. Regardless of political affiliation, I don't take kindly to politicians taking shots at our university.

I'd say his snarky comment says more about his lack of research as we do, in fact, have world class alumni.

Coming from a school of inbred English monarchs, the response is not surprising. How dare little ODU surpass it's parent in any regard. State Senator sounds like a puberty-confused, acne-ridden middle schooler who cannot understand why he is not getting to second base with the pretty girl, while his more-aggressive classmate from more humble origins is getting much better action. Bite me Tribe, and your elitist attitudes. ANd for the record, Laycock is a jerk.

I think we should take the high road and just let the process unfold. We'll get our stadium.

If you guys decide to email this guy, don't go overboard and use insults against him. That will do more harm than good. Just explain why this is such an important thing for ODU.
