Regarding stadium options, although I appreciate the interest and effort put forth by 49RFootballNow, I don't believe the university is going to be investing much money into the structure as it exists. IMO there are just too many issues that would have to be addressed in order to bring S. B. Ballard up to even minimal FBS/ADA standards (not talking about capacity) that it would be a case of excessive waste. As Selig alluded to earlier, the next wave of ODU football fans is going to be a big consideration in the form of our next stadium. I doubt a renovated S. B. Ballard would create much of a buzz, either in terms of generating new fans, or attracting even higher caliber recruits.
If a demolition/renovation is to occur, I would imagine that the schedule will likely be front loaded with home games, and back loaded with away games to allow for an early start on construction. This may happen for 2 or 3 years depending on design, & would require help from the conference schedulers.

Unless it were to occur at a different site. 03-idea
I love how the "ODU Master Plan" thread is nearly EXCLUSIVELY about the football stadium. 04-rock

You mean no one else is excited about the possible renovation of the Chemistry Building??? (It really, really needs it).

Also, does anyone know if the concrete pavers that are being put on the outside of the new Engineering building will be the final exterior for the front? If so, I'd be a bit disappointed.

I don't believe any schedule adjustment will be happening as you suggest, but if they do, it would be much better to adjust in the other direction to take advantage of better construction weather, ie., away games early and home games late.

I am, I have to teach classes in it. Last Fall I was teaching a lab until 9:35 pm because there's not enough space, they have to run labs all day.
The purple lot for tailgating may be going away as soon as next year, for a high rise building. We will see a move to go vertical, from here on at ODU. We may be tailgating on the top of garages pretty soon and that isn't a joke.

"Little help" from footballs and cornhole bags falling over the side.
This entire issue is moot. If we can't figure out a way to get our games on Cox Cable, we'll never get our demand up over 33k anyway.

I already called Cox to demand they carry the station, but ODU needs to work something out and if nothing else get these things on Channel 11.

They've had that 6 - 9:30 chem lab for years (I took it as a freshman in fall 2009)

If I could get Fios in my area i'd be all over it. Until then sticking with DirecTV.
Yea... took a day of work to have FIOS installed and they didn't show... they apologized and rescheduled. .. didn't show again. No thanks, I'll stick with Cox. At least they have good service.

What difference does it make if they earned it here or somewhere else? Everyone has a value and Wood Selig decided to cut the head coach budget and bring in someone with a lesser value. It might work out, but he cut the budget. It really isn't that difficult to comprehend.

Virtually nothing said here is a fact, ever respect. Had they been able to hire Enfield before the NCAA wins, they would not have offered him 800K; he was making something like 150 at FGCU. It would have been absurd to give the guy a 650K raise and you guys would have been bitching about that. Cause that's what some of you do best, ***** and second guess.

You have to pay for a winner. That's why Shaka is making over a million per and we are going to have to up Bobby's salary significantly.

Enfield went to a bcs school we couldn't afford to match. But we didn't go for the next best candidate, we went for a cheap replacement who also is friends with our AD.

Until I see proof otherwise, that opinion isn't changing and sorry, it is based entirely around FACT. You get what you pay for.

Yeah, but with Verizon at least you know they really listen to you. 01-lauramac2
Directv all day. Over and over again as I read about the woes of regional TV viewership, it just convinces me that it is the way to go. Not only will I see lots of CUSA, I'll continue to see lots of every league.

I tried to get DirecTV when I moved into my house, but the installer said there were too many trees and didn't recommend I go through with it. I appreciated his honesty. I hated Cox when I lived in Norfolk, but I have to say their service and technicians on the Peninsula have been excellent. I don't know if they are under different management or if it is coincidental, but Cox redeemed themselves. They also matched Fios rates for us when we were looking to leave. We took them up on it after Verizon failed to show up to the installation appointment twice.
Having read the tweets from some of our recruits, I'm led to believe that the football staff & athletic department already have a good idea as to where they're going with facilities expansion plans. Otherwise, why would they be selling this stuff to recruits? BTW, Lawry's quote is strikingly identical to what I overheard at the spring game - from a pretty reliable source.
