Kent just barely survived Rochester College; yes, the same Rochester we play Friday.

Look at the Rochester season schedule.

They are 5 - 1 with UofM-Dearborn (remember them?) up next and us Friday.

I don't think Kent is going to be very good this year, especially if Randal Holt misses an extended period of time, but that should let us know that Rochester isn't exactly UM-Dearborn. Hopefully we don't overlook this game.
i remember Rochester coming to the Convo during the Boone era. the had this string bean 7' dude who was having a really hard time out there. i think we won by 60. Boone's signature win.
I'm glad Rochester presents a challenge. EMU needs to play against decent competition more than they need to win by 50.

For me, this is a part, but I'm anxious to see Ray Lee.

I understand that Ray will play both positions.

That is critical, esp. at PG, as I would not want to count on ONE frosh PG, Ross, to carry the load.

There will be games where Ross will look like, well a frosh PG, and maybe Ray Lee can provide another viable option.

And until I see Ray Lee play we'll just need to see who is the best frosh PG.

And they say, "That is why we play the games".

FYI, EMU won at Rochester College in 2010 (82-63) and beat Rochester in Ypsi last year (62-43).

I'm not sure why Boone is so disliked. His predecessor was a profound cheater and his successor got into a fight with a student. Boone had success as a head coach both before and after EMU, something neither Barnes nor Ramsay can say.
You can throw out the record books when EMU tangles with Rochester College. I think there is a really good chance that Da'Shonte Riley scores his first points of the season.
Hopefully Harris is good to go. I know he's been practicing this week.

I'll be interested to see how we use the PGs. Rochester has some pretty good players (Drew Maynard started his career at Oakland and was a 3-star recruit), so don't expect another UM-Dearborn game. We should get some insight on the planned rotation, assuming Harris and Lee are healthy.

Good question about Harris. Maybe he plays say 10 minutes???

Lee is healthy and good to go. Should see time at both guard slots. His injury (bruised heel) is very different than what Harris has (broken bone).

Needless to say, don't want to rush a broken bone.

UofM-D is NAIA (?????) but we were playing 'shorthanded'.

That is the amazing thing. Harris is a starter and didn't play. Lee might be a significant contributor and didn't play.

At full strength, maybe we'd won by 50. 03-lmfao
We've been talking all summer about how deep this team was going to be. It didn't look like we missed a beat without Harris, and he's one of, if not THE best player, on the team. James Still looks like he'll be a quality, versatile big man for us. If Riley keeps playing like he's lost, Still might take some minutes from him at 5. Like I said, we have plenty of depth and lineup options.
Season hasn't even started and I'm already missing the days when we only had to worry about 1 or 2 studs on EMU's team...and 1 or 2 role players that could bury 3's.

:)

IF Murphy decides to leave for greener pastures, I'll bet Ramsey, Boone and Barnes applies for the job calling it 'an opportunity of a lifetime.' 03-lmfao
Haha. We aren't gonna count our chickens before they're hatched, but the talent level of the new guys compared to the ones they are replacing seems pretty night and day. We thankfully don't have to hold our breath while watching Kamil Janton eat minutes with Harris and Riley in foul trouble. I think I will be most thankful for that this year. Kamil seems like a nice kid, but he was great at raising my blood pressure whenever he played.

In less than 24 hours we'll start to see our baby eagles hatching before our eyes...

Is Harris good enough to keep Still on the bench? 04-jawdrop

I want to see Still play for myself (I'll be watching on EMU's all-access tomorrow). [I obviously didn't see the x-hibition game last Friday]
For those into this kind of thing:

http://www.gowolves.net/article/201.php

Rochester College beat UofM-Dearborn by 28 Wednesday.

I bet UM-D was probably flat having just played EMU five days ago. It is tough to bounce back after playing a very good team.
Prediction:

EMU (a bit green this early in the season) 73

Rochester (not as talented, but in mid-season form) 57.

I see this game being tighter than many, not because of EMU, but because Rochester has already played SEVEN games. Rochester's first game was OCTOBER 19, three weeks ago. Rochester has already played a close x-hibition game vs. Kent State. They should be in mid-season form.

EMU: Only one x-hibition game to date, but for a 1st game this is better than a strong D-I opponent.
Just now finding out the game isn't on the radio. Ugh. Can't watch it at work either. Looks like I'll be box score watching.

Steve and anyone else watching the game: please provide updates if you guys can. I'd love to know how the team looks. The box score doesn't always tell the truth.
