Is EMU the worst team in FBS history? I've been researching and I believe the EMU football program is one of the worst, if not the worst. When is enough enough?
Asking that EMU is the worst FBS team is kind of like asking is Fordham the worst Division 1 basketball team?

Just as Fordham doesn't prevent the A10 from placing 4 teams in the NCAA tourney, Eastern Michigan doesn't prevent the MAC from winning 4 bowl games....

03-idea

Fordham has a rich history of basketball. Did you know Fordham played Pittsburgh in the first televised college basketball game?

They showed pictures of EMU's great football teams in the 1920's tonight on ESPNU.
Its in the conferences best interest for emu to get better, especially with the role SOS is playing in todays rankings and stats. A stronger EMU, Akron, Buffalo, and Umass next year will make the MAC that much better. Problem with EMU is their attendence in football is ridiculous and they dont floor a good basketball team... Those being the 2 sports that creates perception and pays the bills. The poor football teams in other conferences are at least usually better in basketball. (kanas, kentucky, indiana to name 3.)

Keep an eye on this year's hoops squad. There are about to be some good games played in the EMU Convocation Center.

Yes, they are the worst. I almost take offense to being in the same conference as them
Dear NIUSox10,
Know of what you try to talk about. Eastern's basketball team won the MAC West last year. We have been in the NCAA Tournament more than Northern. You should know your history more than the last few years or so.

MC Rocket,
You also need to do some research. Up until last year, Kent State lost more football games than Eastern. Akron, Buffalo, also are right there. I take offense for your high and mighty position. Everyone does not stay at the top forever, just remember that.

If a good game is played at EMU, and no one is there to see it, did it actually happen??
Kent St. has been worse. Both have won MAC titles more recently than OU.
People forget that Kent was a perennial MAC doormat in basketball for years. And years. And years. And then they got better. Much better. EMU will never draw well, through no fault of their own (although if a fault opened up under UM's Stadium it might help). But they have had decent football teams and will again.

I was a bit surprised at the results.

Wow - that's a rough history for EMU.
Dear GeoJMU,
Did you look at Buffalo, Kent, Akron, in football? Except for last season, Kent had a worse record than Eastern.

I actually did look at Kent and Akron after I posted that - rough too. I thought it was pretty cool and interesting to see that they all started playing football in the 1890's. Certainly a lot of history there.

Sadly for Kent we were bad in numerous sports for a long time until our previous AD came on board and decided to put effort into the programs. Now we have one of the best athletic depts in the MAC man do times change. Finally football broke through the barrier and hopefully it will stay good and hopefully that will translate into locals actually caring about where things are going.

In addition Kent has seemingly turned around the city of Kent too which is finally starting to support the university locally. Check out the new downtown it is so different that I don't even recognize it.
