Coaches Poll is out...

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/pol...ches-poll/

Ohio #23 (132 points)
Toledo #31 (30 points, and still 21 points behind UC)
Northern Illinois #35 (14 points)
Sweet! If OU, NIU, and UT keep winning, the MAC could have three teams ranked come time for the Huskies-Rockets showdown. Kent could also get into the mix, but I must say the ranked Rutgers team, the Flashes next opponent, looks to be the real deal.
Keep it up MAC! Lets get Kent up there with a big win over Rutgers to go up 4-3 over the nBE this year!
very cool!!! congrats to all teams involved!!!! let's all keep it going as long we can! 04-rock COGS 04-cheers
Ohio moves up to #23 in AP poll.
How would UT even get ranked after the next two weeks? Let alone both NIU and UT.
NIU/UT need to beat eachother to show superiority and get into the top25 after the week of November 17th. Neither play a good enough team to jump a lot in the next two weeks. WMU and Ball State will generate an extra 5 votes maybe? lol.

it will depend, of course, on where you are in the BCS later tonight. also, teams ahead of you could lose which would cause you to move up, especially now that you're getting national attention from your big win last night. it could happen!

Could happen, but the post I meant to reply to says 3 MAC teams ranked going into that week? That can only be possible if Kent beats Rutgers, OU is still unbeaten, and UT doesn't drop a game before NIU. NIU needs a signature win yet. That for them will be against Toledo, so they don't have a huge shot at getting ranked.

UT is #26 in the AP poll, so they should be ranked next week.

I agree with you in that I don't see Northern Illinois breaking the Top 25 prior to the Toledo game.

Kent State would make a TON of noise by taking Rutgers out..

I don't care about individual polls. The BCS is what I am talking about, because ultimately we want a team in a BCS bowl...
I notice that Boise State moved up to #18 in the Coaches Poll this week, inverse of their drop in the computer ratings.

Ohio doesn't even have to catch Boise in the polls if they can put some distance on Boise in the computer polls. Ohio needs to be close but can get away with being a couple of spots lower in the Coaches poll.
What sub-poll carries the most weight? Or % by individual poll?

I believe its 1/3 Harris, 1/3 Computers, 1/3 Coaches.

Boise State has 3 problems trying to stay ahead of Ohio in the BCS:

1) Its more difficult to rise in the polls the higher a school goes. Less schools in the Top 15 lose on a given week than in the Top 25.

2) Boise's SOS can only go one direction at this point in the season, downward. Ohio has the worst SOS and can only go up.

3) Ohio will get a boost by winning a conference championship game in the polls while Boise will be out of sight during championship week.

Ohio has a 90% chance of catching Boise if it can go undefeated. I wouldn't say its a lock but its hardly Ohio's biggest issue at this point.
Take a look at the numbers here for Boise State vs. Nevada....

Boise State (avg= 57.5)
Passing: 215.3 (79th)
Rushing: 158.9 (69th)
Points for: 26.1 (76th)
Points against: 13.6 (6th)

Nevada (avg= 36.25)
Passing: 269.1 (79th)
Rushing: 272.0 (7th)
Points for: 40.6 (16th)
Points against: 29.9 (84th)

Nevada statistically looks like the better team plus they have the Boise State game at home this year. They could definitely beat the Broncos.

Boise State at #18 in the Coaches Poll is overrated, IMO. Its not to say that Ohio isn't overrated too but at least Ohio has being undefeated going for it.
Ohio wins by not playing..seriously, I think UT's win over a ranked team may have helped garner a few votes for OU just because of the improved perception of the MAC with the OOC record we have this YTD.

Hello BCS top 25.

It's very possible. There are 3 more weeks of voting before they play each other. Many teams in front of Toledo and NIU will lose between then and now.
