Certainly a winnable FBS game, although I imagine we'll be a little jet-lagged on both sides of the ball.

Idaho is coming here in 2019.

That is if Idaho is still playing football in 2019. I'll be shocked if they are still an FBS team then.

I have my suspicions that they'll be FCS in the Big Sky by then, but apparently they're pretty stubborn about staying FBS. Ultimately it will come down to funds and feasibility, so we'll see. Good to have a future home game laid out nonetheless. I hope we thrash the Vandals next season.

Idaho already has approval from the state to move all sports to the Big Sky. They are expected announce a move of everything but football for 2014-2015 tonight.

Game is scheduled for November 9th.

They better be paying well. We turned down Hawaii 'cause they wouldn't give us a good enough guarantee right?

Home and homes usually don't have much in the way of guarantees. Maybe enough to cover travel for the team going away first.
That being said, we better have a ton of buyout contingencies baked into this contract with Idaho's very unstable future.

I think the writing is on the wall for Idaho football. It's only a matter of time now. They'll be in the Big Sky before 2019, maybe as soon as 2016. It's an optimal geographic alignment and it should boost their home game attendance, located conveniently between perennial powers Eastern Washington and U of Montana. As for the return game, we need a way out. There are definitely more marketable FCS teams we could bring to Foreman Field in 2019 if we wanted one.
The whirlwind of conference realignment has tipped another WAC domino. The implosion continues.

This could be a brilliant plan by Idaho to get a desperately needed home-game, and when we inevitably cancel the game when they become FCS, cause we'd rather play Hampton or Norfolk State, they get a paycheck. Win -Win for them.

Insightful observation, Blue_Trombone. I hadn't considered that. They're just a scrubby lower-tier FBS team on the surface, but when backed into the downgrade corner I think it's certainly plausible that they would conduct such a clever ruse. Potatoes and diabolical Vandals. Idaho is a strange place.

It took long enough, I've been saying for months Idaho should be on our schedule next year. But a return date in 2019, are you serious? That's a long time from now to schedule a return game especially since they are hurting just to schedule teams in general.

Someone noted this somewhere (maybe Twitter) but Idaho's current QB is Dominique Blackman who was a redshirt here, but wasn't happy about sitting on the bench behind DeMarco and transferred out.

What year is that guy? He's bounced around... U. Washington, juco, ODU and now Idaho. I would love to finally see that guy play but will he have eligibility next year?

Their website has him as a junior.

He's been awful as well
10-20-2012, 09:00 PM
He has 8 TD's and 11 int's on the year. He's averaging only about 200 passing yards a game and has negative rushing yards on the season (he's not a running QB)
Of course, 8 of those 11 Int's came against LSU and North Carolina so I'm not sure how much better Heinecke would have done against the schedule Idaho has played but regardless, I am pleased as punch to have Heinecke and not Blackmon. We made the right choice!

Absolutely! If Blackman didn't x-fer we would not have Heinicke right now. In a way Blackman is our most valuable ex-baller.

On the contrary, we might have Heinecke for an extra year...
