This kind of absolute guff that should be such a minor part of discourse on a football discussion board, to call out a whole school for removal from the league from a guy from a school that just won its first bowl game EVER last season? But I'm not going to fall into the trap of attacking Ohio based on one or two goons.

If you've been around this board and its predecessors as some of us have, you can remember when it was NIU and Kent on the chopping block from some well-intentioned people, here to save the MAC from being "dragged down." Buffalo spent a lot of years with people wanting them gone. Akron. BG. The idea that any of these schools would or should be kicked out is just as absurd as the idea that they shouldn't when they have a good season and people show up.

If you went to a school and root for the school, maybe you don't live near the school enough to go to games, but you like there being a program and wish the best. EMU has some very fervent fans who are suffering enough just with wanting the FB team to be good. EMU, less than year removed from a 6-6 year where they beat both other Michigan MAC schools, and less than a week from taking Toledo to the wire. Eventually they will get a coach with the vision and skill to turn things around. They may already have that coach, I don't know. But we'll see if when they reach the top of the mountain, EMU fans are looking down at someone to eliminate from the MAC.

Cylical, as someone said. Enjoy your time at the top, Optimist.

Excellent comments. Well, I'm OK with ditching BG, but otherwise I'm in complete agreement with you.

We'd be like Temple and our only rival would be in a lower division. We'd still play them.

Yep.
Yep, it would be great if one of the mods simply dragged this thread over to the smack board.
I feel bad for EMU, and part of the MAC's strength, especially in these turbulent times, is our solidarity, but at some point?????????????

Big East gave Temple the heev-ho...
Temple was a football-only member. It's the equivalent of booting one of the soccer-only schools from MAC soccer.

Eastern Michigan needs to somehow find a way to start building a branch campus in a place like Port Huron, St. Clair, Marine City, New Baltimore, or Monroe with the ultimate plan of moving everything.

Start with some science and technology buildings, as well as dorms with modern amenities, and then move on to other departments. Also relocate all athletic department facilities as quickly as possible.

Once the new campus is fully done, sell the old campus to the University of Michigan, where they can establish new departments or something. EMU should actually be situated in Eastern Michigan.
+100

You just described no less than 25 years. More like 40-50.

You can't just pick up a University and move it overnight.
That is EXACTLY why I don't have hope to save EMU. I have nothing against EMU fans personally... I have nothing against EMU personally.

I call BS

I kind of doubt it, which is why conferences are slow and deliberate to invite schools. So, not only is this a stupid discussion guaranteed to cause bad blood, it's not even a feasible consideration anyway. It's like arguing who deserves mineral rights on the Moon.

Marshal was booted from the MAC for cheating too much. That was a long time ago though.
