Had an opportunity to see the end of the Central Florida/Houston game and must say I'm impressed with what Central Florida has done this year, the turn around and being bowl eligible. I was equally impressed with our own South Florida and their win over a red hot Rutgers on their home field. I think these lil brother Florida schools are making a statement this year and people better listen. I now see the merrit of having both in our conference. Given a little time it will be the big 5 in Florida. After all if California can do it (USC, UCLA, California, Stanford, Fresno St) why can't the east coast sunshine state do it? 04-bow
Hopefully Miami and FSU are given the death penalty and UCF and USF can rule the state.

04-cheers

Both UCF and USF are headed in the right direction.
I don't think it's necessary for anyone to get the death sentence for you to flourish. I think Florida is big enough to support five major programs. The talent is there. Everybody and their mother recruits Florida. The minute more of your high school talent decide to stay home, there will be a giant step up for both South and Central Florida.
UCF is definitely positioning themselves for any future BE expansion. Congrats Knights.

Dang, I actually agree with a Knight... 04-cheers
UCF has played very well this yr....probably the Golden Knights #1 probelm when it came to potential BE membership was their poor bball areana...looks like that is being fixed and getting a new football staduim on top of that.....if they continue to win in football they will be attractive come split time

If they continue to win they will likely be the number 1 target. That will give USF a travel partner and a natural rival.

I could live with as long as they continue to win Toledo and UCF.

Our current arena is a product of Steve Sloan......and he was a HORRIBLE AD.

However, our new arena/athletic village is in construction as we speak. Here is where we're headed:

And on top of that a new stadium will be included as well.
Sweet. I always thought UCF would be good if they are commited to football. Florida has a lot more in common with Northeast states than other Southern schools. People up in the BE dont mind going to Florida.

Anyway, keep improving and we will see where we end up. Two Florida schools are not bad. BTW, CA has a lot more D-1A schools than just the Big 5. There are SDSU and SJSU in addition to the big 5.
Yeah I know but you have the big 5 and others. Everyone in the big 5 has been ranked and has the potential to be ranked every year. Florida has another A1 school as well but i see these five as having the potential to be ranked every year.

SF,

I've heard many Huskie fans that have seen our proposed stadium design say it looks alot like your new stadium.

What do you think of your stadium?
I disagree about the death penalty for UM and FSU and UF. The only death penalties I want them to get are the ones you give them on the field on a yearly basis. Don't hope for the demise of a program other than the one you force on them yourselves with some seriou butt whoopin!
I'd gladly take a second Florida school into the conference, while geographically out of the footprint, Florida and the Northeast have alot more in common than say Florida and Alabama, well at least Orlando and south. I think Krocker's idea looks more and more attractive as time goes on.

Except for the Temple part. 03-wink

Knight Time - We love our stadium. It is a NFL quality college stadium with state of art stuff at price tag of $91M. It is designed to easily expand to 50K+, so there are tons of potential. It is a great college football venue much like Papa John at UL. In fact, they are designed by the same people.

I hope your new stadium will be something like that. Last I heard was something they can put together for $40M. I hope that can stand up to hurricanes.

Anyway, I always thought UCF would be good cause it would gurantee a FLA trip each year for BE schools. Hopefully, UCF and USF would bring some bowls to the BE also.
SF (and others), here are the artist renderings of the new stadium:

I think some UCF fans would rather commit suicide rather than join the Big East. Afterall, people like TKT want the BigEast to lose it's BCS bid....

I was wondering how long it would take until you and your friggin negativity showed up.
I watched a bit of the UCF/Houston game on Saturday, and I have to admit I was impressed by their turnout and the way the atmosphere looked on TV. It should be interesting in 5 years. Terry Holland has said he wants to expand ECU's stadium to 60k. UCF is making great strides. Which way will the BE go? I'm guessing it depends on who is in better shape when the split happens.

Although i wouldn't expect the BE to look only at the short term benefits of adding a team. They will look at who has more long-term potential.

Should be interesting.
