The big head dragon is still my favorite, followed closely by the green on green from '94. Baumhower's in Wildwood used to have one of those on display.

of the 9 helmets, the current helmet in my opinion ranks 8th or 9th, don't like the previous one either.

My ranking:

1. Big head dragon
2. Dragon Shield
3. Tie:
Arched UAB over dragon
Flat UAB over dragon

5. Gold spear, 1995
6. Green spear, 1994
7. All others

I like the big dragon helmet, but I also like the one from '93. Not sure why; it makes no sense in the grand scheme of things, but I like it.

I like the next version.

94,92,and finally 93 in that order for me.

Nice but I noticed one missing. Where is our white helmet.

I like the big head dragon as #1(espn still uses this helmet for us by the way), and the 92' version as #2. The rest are just okay. I also would like a green helmet with a green or white face mask, but I'm not sure what big green dragon would look like on it. A gold blazers would look good.

I wonder if Mackin would buy into the idea of a big dragon helmet with UAB stickers like this.



This way he can keep UAB on the helmet.

But cb, the first game of the season would be a catastrophe. We would not have any UAB stickers on the helmets yet

I would love to see white helmets with the current away unis and white pants. I still like the protest maneuver of wearing white at home until we play on campus.

I have one of the 1994 helmets and one of the 2003-7 helmets. I also have decals for the 1996-2002 helmet.

Interestingly (or maybe not), the '94 helmet I have has "Watson Brown" crudely written on it in white paint.

I've made peace with the current version, but I still prefer the big head Dragon.

I don't know if any of you have browsed some of the other helmets on the site, but he also has high school helmets for some schools. Pretty cool stuff.

The guy who runs the site went to Pelham. (the Pelham helmet, I might add, is rather cool itself)

The big dragon and the '93 spear are my favorites followed closely by 94 and 95 spears. The helmets since 2008 have sucked. I hate to say it, but this year's version would look much better without the dragon.

They should wear the throwbacks one day. Maybe 1993's uniform.

I wasn't a fan of this year's helmets while watching the game against the Plainbillies. It seemed like the new lettering and the new painting "technique" (or just a new color...whatever the new gold is) clashed in a way that made the decal hard to see clearly. But after seeing the games broadcast in HD and in-game pictures I like it better than last year's.

We don't really have the fanbase for throwbacks, do we? They're typically done for fans - like black is generally done more for the players - and even throwbacks to just the "shield" era would leave more people confused than fired up.

I like the big dragon helmet. It was unique, not like our current "LSU copycat" helmet.
