Markie Hayes- Over the years we have had our fair share of players with character issues, so it is encouraging to see a kid like Markie who represents all that's good about an NIU student athlete. Before his career is over he will have as big of a positive impact on the field as he already has off the field.

Lynch- if Jordan continues to play at this current level he will play in the NFL, perhaps not as a QB, but he will fit nicely into the evolving NFL offensive schemes which feature multiple threats/weapons.

Jimmy Ward - as a true freshmen he was a impact player, however I wish now he had his redshirt year. He will go down as one of the best if not the best DB in Huskie history.

Santacanterina - he has a quarter of the reps as the other LBs who play, but his plays made to # of plays ratio must be amongst the best on the team. We seem to be in sync defensively when he is on the field.

Ryan Brown - the offensive line as a whole has performed far above expectations, and the kid with the biggest upside may be Ryan Brown. He looks like he has a lot of growth left in the tank, and his technique is solid.

J Womble - the fumbles have limited his carries, but I can't help but think this kid has unique skills (inside/short yardage power runner) that our offense needs to be complete.
Yes, we have a ton of good players on this team. Ball State's Coach Lembo remarked after the game on our great depth and he is right. We run waves of good players out there every game. Compare this team to the '03 squad where the starters were great and there was no one behind them. Once a starter went down we were screwed at that position. Clearly not the case this year when we substitute constantly. I've mentioned it before if Pegram comes back next year we could have a 10 man rotation at o-line which is unusual to say the least.
I don't get why Womble wasnt used on the downs last week where we had inches to go. Carey using Lynch as a powerback reminded me of Novak/Ron Turner doing the same thing with Wolfe. Use all your tools.
Part of 2010's success involved plenty of players being shuttled in and out, used frequently and kept fresh. This has continued, as has our success.
Man, I think Womble would have done some good dropping some weight. He's not fat, but he looks so much quicker/more agile in that video.

Also, I'll take Lynch carrying the ball over Womble in short yardage 10 times out of 10.
Any info on why Stephen O'neal isn't playing this year? He had a lot of reps last year. What about Clinton-Earl....was supposed to be a threat off the edge?

Any inside info on how the freshman dlinemen look, we'll need them to step up next year.

In addition to the possibility of Pegram coming back also have Husain, transfer from Tulane, in the mix.
Pretty sure he was hurt and is now redshirting.

not necessarily...we had AJ Harris behind Turner, and Shatone Powers and Sam Hurd (shudder) behind PJ & Sheldon. But that was about it.

Womble looks like a short yardage back, but hasn't really ever mauled anyone ever. He had a nice hard carry in the Go Daddy, but that's all that comes to mind.

Like 7 said, Lynch is the go-to guy when we need a yard.

I assume he meant the defense, we didn't haven much behind them after the injuries and it was our downfall.
