Just got back in from the game....and the one thing that stood out to me tonight was the same thing that caught my attention last yr when these two teams played...Uconn is too slow....I know the Huskies have had a lot of injuries etc....but from a total team speed standpoint Uconn was a step or at times several steps slower then West Virginia....Pat White made those TD runs look way to easy

-- Boston College has had problems getting "speed"guys into chesnut hill for yrs as well....I'm not sure if it is a New England thing or what....but Uconn needs to start recruiting the south (especially Flordia) hard...or do what BC does and go big...get giant O-Lineman and play smash mouth football

BC has been around a lot longer than U Conn has. It takes time to build a legitamite 1A school and U Conn is experiencing growing pains.
The Huskies got spanked by a seasoned legitamite school who is used to playing at a higher level.
The same thing has happened to Louisville, everybody thought that they would run away with it and they will be lucky to beat Pitt tomorrow.

This is not Conference USA baby it's the Big East......

Stookey fr Boston.
Coach Edsall has said that many times. Our speed has improved over the years, but it will take some time. Actually, our D is pretty fast this year but our OL is really young and inexperienced. You are right we have to recruit more speed. We got to hit the FLA recruits hard. Hopefully, we will get some this year. We dont have many ships available this year due to 8 seniors on the year. But we should be improved next year because we got some pretty good red shirt freshmen sitting on the bench.

Historically, UL would have more than 2 losses at this point in CUSA.
Who has UConn beat in football? They really have not beat a good team with that weak schedule, so tonight was something that I expected.

Well to be honest, no one on the UCONN board thought we had a chance. We have number of starters out and we are down to our 3rd string freshman QB. Our OLINE is young and inexperienced. We did not think we can beat WVU. WVU is a very good team. USF will find out soon enough.

No we did not run away with the title but we are still in the upper tier of Big East schools while quite frankly UConn is not at this time.

USF caught us on one of those nights and WVU beat us in a Instant Classic game in Morgantown. As for today game against Pitt all I will say is ask Oregan State and UNC how we play at home.

Yet that would still be enough to compete for a conference championship. I think that speaks volumes of C-USA huh?
We are not in CUSA anymore.

Let's get beyond this.

Back to the UCONN thread. WVU stacked the line against them and dared them to throw. They tried to employ the UC 5 yard passes to the sidelines. It did not work. I hope Dantonio and Treadwell were watching. If WVU comes out the same way on the Bearcats and they don't try throwing down the field, it may be a long night for the Bearcats as well.

Not last year. If Louisville were in cusa, they would be by far the most talented team in cusa, with plenty of 30-50 point margins of victory. :)
Some folks seem to be down on Uconn, talking about weak competition and such. But this Uconn team is not the same Uconn team that started the season. They dont even have all of the same players, due to injuries.

But then again, they ran into a WV team that is not the same team from the beginning of the season. They seem to have improved tremendously with each passing week. Pat White seems to be the missing link for them. He takes them to the next level. WV is for real. They really are the best team in the BE. It is scary to think how good this really young team will be next year.

Didn't half the league win the BE title last year? What was the conf record of those teams?
I'll say this about UCONN....good or bad, they always look sharp in those uniforms!!

Louisville got spanked by one of the other new BE members, and the old member that beat them needed a 4th quarter comeback.

Both of UC's BE wins have come against old members.

Louisville will be "lucky" to beat Pitt?? LOL! The oddsmakers don't seem to agree.
I realize as a UConn fan, you are hurting a little about how the season has turned out...but why try to degrade the Louisville program. Louisville will be fine, the post is about UConn. 03-wink
New England period doesn't have speedy players and Uconn isn't "beating" Boston College in recruiting for those Bigger O-linemen either. I really think Uconn will struggle getting Florida talent (RU,SU,WVU,UL,Pitt) have contacts and success in that state for a long time not Uconn

I think Uconn should focus on bigger stronger kids from the Midwest

even SU has better team talent then Uconn

-- That is exactly my point Pusher T....Boston College has had a solid program for yrs and they were really never able to get a lot of speed guys into their program...for some reason New England just doesn't seem to produce those kind of players in abundance....However BC has found a way around that by going "big".....I wonder if Uconn will come to the same conculsion....Last night the Huskies ran a couple of plays out of the spread and a little option...it just didn't make a lot of sense to me given those are ususally plays that are designed to take advantage of team speed...but all it did was expose how much they were lacking in that area

Esdell is a good young coach so he will probably need more time to develope contacts. I think Uconn should focus more in Texas,Oklhoma,Kanasas,Nebraska area. Places were the "Big-uns" grow and never been to the Big City lights Uconn can provide

SU is also looking at Texas more then ever since Florida is being hit so hard. Uconn,BC,SU,RU will always have Northeast but really should look out futher
