Some of you may be aware of what happened, but some may not.

The short version is that the Scout.com network went through a massive redesign and re-branded themselves as FoxSportsNEXT. It's an affront to website design principles, ugly, slow, and un-useable.

The forums are beyond ugly. You can't sort recruits by last name. Everything is extremely slow.

It's like the layout was was optimized for tablets, but the website itself is so bloated (simple pages are well over 1MB) that a mobile user would eat through their data in no time.

CMU was the only MAC fanbase that made their home there, but there has been a mass exodus from the entire network.
It really is incredibly awful.

Seems like an elementary B-school concept: don't alienate a large percentage of your users/consumers by making a radical, user-unfriendly change to your product.

BUt that's what they've done.
Another basic concept is to not give an outside firm free reign over your product, like they did here. It's all based on Lithium Technologies and pulls a massive amount of scripts from their servers.

That's why things are so slow. The content required to load the page properly is coming from multiple web domains.

Regardless, it's crap. Scout was pretty bad at rating recruits, but searching for them was very simple and the data was laid out in an easy-to-read manner. I liked their layout and the search tools were better than Rivals.

All I know is I can still sneak onto the old board, but I can't even get on the new one. The "accept" button for the new TOS is missing or hidden. At least three others have said the same thing.
It took me about five attempts at loggin in/registering before the "Accept" terms button appeared.

It was such a disaster that they have been forced to roll everything back.

I wish all MAC teams were on this board...for various reasons.

Some CMU folks already registered here. The CMU board will no longer just be the CE show. 04-jawdrop I think he'll enjoy the bigger audience anyway. 03-wink
