I went to Ricks tonight for the Huggs unplugged session.

The night started by Huggs saying that there were certain things he could say and others that he would have to comment on after the checks ran out. Hilarious!

Oscar... Basically Huggs took the high road and said that he holds no ill will towards Oscar...He also stated the "big" o might not understand everything he commented on...ie Jucos

Media... Said that the people in Cincinnati are wonderful and he can't understand why the media is so full of ******. He went on to highlight many times where UC players did great things and the media didn't cover the story.

I'm forgetting much of the night but the highlight for me was the question on Bob Goin... Lap asked how he felt considering that bob had been a friend of his for many years...how did Huggs feel about the press conference where he was relieved of duty...
On goin....Huggs took the fifth. Literally he said "I take the fifth".Huge in my opinion because all night he didn't hesitate to say something positive but on goin he said nothing.
He went on to say that he didn't know he was being fired until Ken Broo called him on his cell phone. Way to go uc you didn't even have the respect to let a man know he was being fired before the media informed you.

The positives. UC fan stuff!

Huggs said the most talented player he had was Wingfield.
Went on to praise Sat, Lo, Herb, Cory, AD Jackson, Pete, etc.
Said Danny got more out of less than any player ever. Along with Max only being 6'5".
Many stories of Kenyon...

This whole ordeal made me sick enough and after tonight it just made things worse. I'm a recent grad of UC and will continue to support the current team..after that all bets are off...I will continue to be a Huggs fan, at least he is a standup guy.
WOW

Thanks for the recap!
Another funny quote of Huggs was when he was asked about AK.

Said that Ak is a great friend...he will do well....Huggs said when he was making mistakes he was in front of 300 people at Walsh college. He seems to have confidence in AK.
Was it crowded at Ricks?
Packed. I was there last week by coincidence and there were 40 people there. Tonight there were 200+ including wlw vip tables. Great showing from the Bearcat faithful.
Huggs forever, NaZi and UC21 never!

It's funny to hear people say they will be a fan until the current players who were here under Huggs finish up this year.

Well, WHO'S LEFT AFTER THAT?

We're gonna suck after this year.

Enjoy Xavier being king of the hill in this town purely by default.

too bad ex-UC fans are turning middie x into a contender.............hope your joking
UC may have a tough two or three years after this year but with the right coach in place (Prosser, etc.) it won't take that long to rebound because:

1. We are UC and UC has great great tradition and has been good for the last decade and a half...two or three years of being down won't erase what we've done...

3. We play in the Big East.....the right coach combined with this only supports my first point...

3. Xavier will never be the king of the hill in this town......not while UC has a team anyway.
Expectations can't be as high as they used to be. Even a very good team could wind up third in the Big East.

Prosser had a gig in Cincy and he left, so I doubt that he is just plain miserable not being here. He beat UC enough to make XU feel on their level.

Hell, i'd rather spend the winter months in north carolina then ohio.

I know you get an extra point for scoring beyond the arc but i don't believe tradition awards you any points. damn near every Big east teams has tradition.

as far as XU never being king. I don't know about that. I can see it happening. The towns seems pretty evenly split now. If XU can stay atop the A-10 while UC cellar dwell, I can see a shift.

I can also see Sean Miller allowing XU to become mediocre and XIX start showing a lot more Louisville games :bang:

Evenly split? I wouldn't say that at all.....not sure where you live but

IF you combine all of UC's current students and Alumni living in the area vs. XU's.......the numbers aren't even close.

But then again...those are just statistics.....not true fans.

Xavier could be top of crappy A-10 and we'll still steal the headlines by bringing in UCONN and 'Cuse and Louisville.
i remember in the late 80's xavier was tops in this town. wasnt all that long ago. if x is in the dance and uc is in the nit then there will be a shift.
