Tea party groups work to remove names from Ohio voter rolls

Quote:The groups and their allies describe it as a citizen movement to prevent ballot fraud, although the Republican secretary of state said in an interview that he knew of no evidence that any more than a handful of illegal votes had been cast in Ohio in the last few presidential elections.

...

In Ohio, election records show, one of the project's top priorities has been to remove college students from the voter rolls for failure to specify dorm room numbers. (As a group, college students are strongly in Obama's camp.)

Voters challenged include 284 students at the Ohio State University campus in Columbus, 110 at Oberlin College, 88 at College of Wooster, 38 at Kent State — and dozens more from the University of Cincinnati, Miami University, Lake Erie College, Walsh University, Hiram College, John Carroll University and Telshe Yeshiva, a rabbinical college near Cleveland.

So far, every county election board that has reviewed the dorm challenges found them invalid.

...

Marlene Hess Kocher, another leader of the Ohio project, filed 420 challenges in Hamilton County over the last month. Kocher alleged that eight members of an African American family, the Sharps, were registered to vote at a vacant lot in Lockland, just outside Cincinnati.

"You are hereby notified that your right to vote has been challenged," letters from county elections officials told each of the Sharps.

"Does this look like a vacant lot?" Teresa Sharp, 53, asked one recent afternoon as she and a friend sat on canvas chairs outside the four-bedroom house where the family has lived since the 1980s.
In other news, 8700 names were challenged after determining they all reside in a cemetary.

The White House released a statement saying: Dead people have a right to voice their opinion as well.
What's your address gdunn? You can PM it to me. I'll make sure a bogus challenge shows up at your door so you can waste your time fighting it.

Bunch of ******* cheaters you cons. It's really quite sad.

At the moment I'm in the process of re-registering my right to vote due to moving. As soon as the registration process is over, I'll send it right over.

I'm going to say this about voter challenges and take it for what it's worth, and this is my opinion.

Every American has the right to vote one time for the candidate of their choosing. No matter if this person is able to get to their voting precent or not. For those unable we have the absentee ballot.

Showing ID is not suffice due to the fact that fake IDs can be produced. But I find it very funny that as soon as someone wants IDs shown to prove these people are who they say they are, Democrats get defensive.

I know in MS when you get a new license at MHP, they gave us the option of scanning our thumb print, if every person did this and was required to have an ID, a simple swipe could be enough to ensure voter fraud didn't happen.

However, this would not be an issue if President Obama didn't have a connection with those folks that were busted for voter fraud about 4 years ago. What was the name of that company again?
Well...you won't find that name because they weren't busted for voter fraud.

Given that you live in Mississippi the question becomes: did you move from a tar roof shack to a trailer or a single wide to a double wide?

You mean I wouldn't had gotten a Christmas card? 03-hissyfit

I understand the frustrations and I'm not so far right thinking that every Democrat/Liberal/Obama supporter is out to rig the race. I think both sides want a fair presidential election.

I'm man enough to admit that when the Tea Bag party first came around and I was at Ft. Bragg, they caught my eye and I was kinda with them, but they've really went off the deep end with some stuff.

The last election I voted McCain and my fiancee voted Obama. This election we're both unsure if our votes will cancel each other out, or if we'll both vote Johnson or what. Right now I'm of the mind of giving anyone a try except for the current administration. I just haven't seen where he's made really any changes.
I mostly agree, however I see little evidence that the efforts of the right are 'just' to get a fair election.

So people by nature are honest, will go in, vote once under the proper name and walk out and hope for the best?

And I mean this for all parties-- Independent, Republican, or Democrat.

Yes, that is what is happening and what has happened. By most accounts, there are 9 or 10 known cases of in person voter fraud since 2000.

With no effective detection mechanism in place, how can we possibly know that this is correct? It's like the county road that the cops never patrol; there are no speeding tickets issued on that road, so obviously nobody ever speeds there, right?

How were the 9 or 10 cases detected? How stupid were those folks to get caught?

I think there needs to be a DNA bank of everyone in this country and test the person's DNA at the polls to be sure they are who they say they are.

Regardless Owl, you know as well as I that there is no point to an organized effort of in person voter fraud to try to steal an election. It's just basically not possible and certainly not worth the risk.
